West Australian high school graduates have logged in to find out their ATAR results and for 18 students, opening them held an additional surprise – the highest possible score of 99.95.

Anaia Kakulas, from Methodist Ladies’ College, opened her results in the backyard with her brother. She had asked him to film her reaction for fun, but never thought she would get the top result.

“I always thought I would do well and I was aiming for an ATAR of 99, but I never had any expectations beyond that,” she said.

“As soon as I saw the number I started jumping around, I really couldn’t believe it, and my brother joined in and started jumping around with me too.

Students from Penrhos College celebrate the end of their schooling journey.

For 18 students, their results contained an additional surprise – the highest possible ATAR of 99.95.

Intriguing players to watch in Falcons vs. Cardinals

These five have to take flight for Atlanta to thrive today.

Several Atlanta Falcons players have a chance to finish the 2025 season strong, which will carry ramifications fo both the team and those individual players entering the 2026 offseason. That creates a lot of intrigue for this Week 16 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Thus, I’m tasked with naming five, and only five, Falcons who are the most intriguing for Sunday’s action.

First up is Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins, who has made a name for himself beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his short stint as the Falcons’ starter the past two seasons. His numbers versus the Bucs are impressive, but range from ordinary to underwhelming against most of the remaining competition he’s seen as a Falcon.

Game Preview: Knicks vs. Heat, December 21, 2025

The New York Knicks (19*-8) host the Miami Heat (15-13) at Madison Square Garden this evening. It’s the fourth meeting of the season, with Miami holding a 2–1 edge.

When they last faced off, on November 17, Miami defeated New York 115–113 at the Kaseya Center. Norman Powell scored 19 points, Kel’el Ware posted a 16-14 double-double, and Davion Mitchell adding 18 as the Heat closed out a tight finish despite missing Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro. Deuce McBride led the Knicks with 25 points, followed by Mikal Bridges with 23 and Karl-Anthony Towns with 22 points and 16 rebounds. New York fell short after erasing a 10-point deficit in the final three minutes. Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby missed the game due to injury.

Miami Heat at New York Knicks odds, picks and predictions

The need for Norman Powell, a match-up change for Miami and other Heat-Knicks keys

The Heat head to New York after making a stop in Boston on Friday night with a relatively short-handed group.

Tyler Herro, Pelle Larsson, and Nikola Jovic remain out again for Miami, while Davion Mitchell and Andrew Wiggins are questionable tonight after missing the last game.

This will actually be the fourth match-up with the Knicks this season, as they've come away with a 2-1 record up to this point.

But let's get into some keys of how this one might be different:

Norman Powell isn't coming off his best performance after a 1 for 11 three point shooting night in Boston. He hasn't had many of those this season with Miami, and he especially hasn't in the three games against the Knicks early in the year. He led the Heat in scoring in each of those match-ups, including a 38 point, 8 three performance back in November. The point is that this match-up allows for him to find a shooting flow, and they absolutely need him to assert his dominance on the offensive end. He used to be able to pick his moments when the depth was peaking, but in this time of need, Powell's aggressiveness needs to be a topic of this game.

Since 2000, only 3 tornado warnings have been issued in Hawaii

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – It was a wet start to the Aloha Friday with severe weather for parts of Kauai and Oahu.

There was even a rare tornado warning issued for Ni’ihau around 6:40 a.m.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Honolulu noticed alarming activity on the radar, including intense circulation. They say the factors were all there for a tornado to spawn.

“Several of us here on the floor just got together and decided that this warranted a tornado warning and we’ll never know what happened. It came across a part of the island that’s very low habitation, but we’re pretty confident it probably had a tornado, especially right when it came on shore,” Meteorologist Stephen Parker said.

A rare tornado warning was issued early Friday morning for the island of Niʻihau as a strong storm system moved across the western end of the Hawaiian Islands, prompting officials to urge residents to seek shelter and remain alert.

The warning was precautionary. It ran through 7 a.m., and no reports came in of confirmed tornado damage on the sparsely populated island near Kauaʻi.

And Jack Nicholson said, 'Well, we're here,'" Sutherland told CBS News in the upcoming special "CBS News: Rob Reiner – Scenes from a Life," airing Sunday. Jewish leaders call for federal royal commission into Bondi beach attack that killed 15 people as huge crowd marks one week anniversary

Ten minutes of terror: how the Bondi mass shooting unfolded in real time – video

Jewish leaders have called for a federal royal commission into the Bondi terror attack, as some members of the crowd booed Anthony Albanese on arrival at the commemoration marking one week since 15 people were killed on the first day of Hanukah.

The president of the NSW Board of Jewish Deputies, David Ossip, said it “cannot be disputed” that a federal royal commission was needed, to loud cheers and applause from the crowd of up to 15,000 people gathered at Bondi, where a minute’s silence was held at 6.47pm, the time the attack began.

Sydney's grieving Jewish community has gathered at Bondi Beach and held a minute's silence for those killed.

The prime minister was booed and Jewish community leaders backed calls for a royal commission into the massacre.

Some of the loudest rounds of applause were for NSW Premier Chris Minns, Opposition Leader Kellie Sloane and Ahmed Al Ahmed, who disarmed one of the gunmen and remains in hospital.

Sydney's grieving Jewish community has gathered at Bondi Beach, just metres from where 15 people were gunned down a week earlier, in a solemn act of mournful defiance.

Thousands of people turned out for the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies community vigil to honour the victims and survivors of last Sunday's antisemitic terrorist attack that has shocked the country.

Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a partial ACL tear in training on Saturday.

Christensen, 29, made his first start since September in Tuesday's Copa del Rey tie against Guadalajara, scoring the first goal in the 2-0 win.

However, Barça say he suffered an "unfortunate twist of the knee" this weekend, ruling him out of Sunday's LaLiga game against Villarreal and for the foreseeable future.

Barcelona have been rocked by a significant injury setback after Andreas Christensen suffered a partial Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear during training, dealing a blow to Hansi Flick’s defensive plans. The Danish defender’s recovery timeline remains uncertain, adding fresh concern to a season already disrupted by fitness issues for the experienced centre-back.

Barcelona have confirmed that first-team defender Andreas Christensen has suffered a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The injury occurred during Saturday’s training session after an unfortunate twist of the knee, just ahead of the club’s La Liga trip to Villarreal.

Adelaide: This team was supposed to be Australia’s weakest Ashes side since 2010-11. This team has repeatedly been referred to as “not the strongest Australian side”, “not vintage” or “not as good as earlier teams”. This team has at times been called too old, too outspoken, too injury-affected and even, bizarrely, too woke.

About 2.10pm local time in Adelaide, they sealed the destiny of the Ashes in the space of three matches, or, by another measure, just 11 days. It was emphatic. England did their best to provide a Rorke’s Drift rearguard, helped by a hamstring injury to Nathan Lyon, but Australia still found a way through.

Grandstand at Stumps: An England fight, but Australia retain The Ashes

Australia retains The Ashes with an unassailable lead in the series as it secures the win in Adelaide.

A Nathan Lyon injury, another stellar catch from Marnus Labuschagne and an English fightback with the bat made it an entertaining day for Corbin Middlemas, Jason Gillespie, Darren Lehmann and Stuart Clark to dissect.

Hear from Labuschagne, Cameron Green and Brendon McCullum, as well as the full post-match presentation.

Sources: HR record-setter Murakami picks ChiSox

Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a two-year, $34 million contract, sources told ESPN on Sunday, landing the home run record-setter in Nippon Professional Baseball with a rebuilding team making its first free agent splash in years.

Murakami, 25, was arguably the most fascinating player to hit free agency this winter. A 6-foot-2, 230-pound left-handed slugger with elite exit velocity, he was the youngest player on the market and heads to Major League Baseball with 246 home runs in his eight seasons for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows.

He has been a star in Japan since he hit 36 home runs as a 19-year-old in 2019. He followed that up with 56 home runs in 2022, breaking the record for a Japan-born player set in 1964 by Sadaharu Oh. Murakami, a two-time Central League MVP, missed time last season with an oblique injury but hit 22 home runs in 56 games with a .273/.379/.663 slash line.

White Sox sign Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami to $34 million contract

The White Sox have landed an intriguing free agent with the potential to add some serious power to their lineup.

Japanese infielder Munetaka Murakami agreed to a two-year, $34 million contract with the White Sox on Sunday, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed.

The 25-year-old slugger, who is coming over from the Yakult Swallows, hit 56 home runs during the 2022 season and has four other 30-homer campaigns.

His strikeout rate that eclipsed 28 percent over the last three years made teams wary, but it’s a fairly low-risk move for a White Sox team looking to turn things around.

The corner infielder is expected to play first base in Chicago, according to ESPN.
