She leads the WNBA in double-doubles this season. The win also gave head coach Karl Smesko his 50th career victory.

    English pop star moves sold-out show to Western Springs Bowl after $2.5m upgrade

    English pop star Olivia Dean is poised to make New Zealand history, moving her sold-out Spark Arena show westwards to become the first headline act when Auckland’s Western Springs Bowl reopens after a $2.5 million upgrade.

    The Nice To Each Other singer announced her return to Aotearoa in September last
    year, with a one-off show initially slated for the central Auckland venue on October 17 as part of her The Art of Loving tour.

    At midday, organisers for the tour – presented by Handsome Tours and Laneway Presents – said there would be “a major upgrade” to Dean’s Auckland show “due to phenomenal demand”.

    Olivia Dean moves Auckland show to Western Springs Bowl

    Olivia Dean has announced her show on October 17 in Auckland has moved from Spark Arena to Western Springs Bowl.

    A statement said the show was moved after "phenomenal demand" for tickets, and will mark the first music event for the venue after a $2.5 million transformation.

    Existing ticket holders can expect their tickets to be reissued for the new venue to their Ticketek NZ account by September 30.

    Additional tickets will also be on sale to the public on Thursday, August 20.

    Dean said of the tour: "I’m so excited to return to Australia & New Zealand! Thank you so much for all your support over the last few years, I can’t wait to celebrate with you soon!"

    I’ve spent years studying how airlines and their unions collide, and in Canada the pattern is becoming familiar. Once an airline strike begins, there is little institutional middle ground between widespread disruption and government intervention. Other countries show this is not the only way to manage a strike.

    The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) is warning federally regulated employers that a second round of Canada Labour Code consultations could entrench, rather than eliminate, the labour minister's power to end lawful strikes.

    The CLC's second submission to the Code review renews its call to repeal section 107, the provision allowing the labour minister to order employees back to work or refer disputes to binding arbitration. 

    The particular section reads: “The Minister, where the Minister deems it expedient, may do such things as to the Minister seem likely to maintain or secure industrial peace and to promote conditions favourable to the settlement of industrial disputes or differences and to those ends the Minister may refer any question to the Board or direct the Board to do such things as the Minister deems necessary.”

    A body has been found during a search for a missing swimmer at North Wollongong.

    NSW Police have not formally identified the body but believe it to be that of a 32-year-old man.

    Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.

    A body believed to be that of a 32-year-old man has been found in the water near North Wollongong Beach, during a multi-agency search for the missing swimmer.

    The body of a man has been pulled from the waters at North Wollongong.

    Emergency services were called to the waters off the Continental Pool at 11am on Sunday after a call about a missing swimmer.

    The call came after people at the beach had found the swimmer's belongings on the shore.

    Surf lifesaving teams hit the water on jet-skis and IRBs searching for the man.

    Water Police and the Lifesaver rescue helicopter were also involved in the search.

    Drowning at Wollongong on Sunday

    A report will be prepared for the Coroner, after a man’s body was located near Wollongong

    Emergency services were called to Cliff Road, North Wollongong, at about 10.40am on Sunday 9 August 2026, after reports the belongings of a swimmer who had not returned from the water had been located.

    A search of nearby water, by multiple crews located the body of the missing swimmer.

    He is yet to be formally identified; however, he’s believed to be aged in his early 30’s.
