2026 In-Season Challenge: Official bracket, format, schedule, results and more | Todd Gilliland S…

Explore the latest developments concerning 2026 In-Season Challenge:.

Todd Gilliland Survives Atlanta to Keep $1 Million Dream Alive

HAMPTON, Ga. — Todd Gilliland didn’t have the fastest car at EchoPark Speedway. He didn’t lead laps, collect stage points or challenge for the win.

In a rain-delayed race that stretched into Monday morning, Gilliland battled through a frustrating night to finish 19th and advance to the next round of NASCAR’s In-Season Challenge.

“Somehow, someway, we made it to the next round,” Gilliland said.

The No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team spent most of the evening buried in traffic, finishing 34th in both stages before grinding out a top-20 finish. It wasn’t flashy, but it was enough to keep Gilliland’s hopes for the tournament’s $1 million prize alive.

In-Season Challenge Down To Four Drivers

HAMPTON, Ga. — Monday morning’s Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway had a big effect on the TNT $1 million to-win In-Season Challenge.

What started as a 32-driver bracket of head-to-head matchups is now down to the final four.

Race winner Ryan Blaney disposed of 16th-place William Byron and will face off against Atlanta runner-up Christopher Bell in the semifinals. Bell defeated his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Denny Hamlin, who finished 12th.

Chase Elliott, who finished 13th, out-dueling JGR’s Chase Briscoe, who finished 36th after being collected in a crash. Elliott will face Todd Gilliland next week at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Gilliland advanced with an 19th-place effort, bettering Hendrick’s Alex Bowman, who finished 22nd.

Spain will receive championship rings — but they'll also be for sale

2,026 rings have been made, with 30 going to the team and the rest being sold to the public.

FIFA has not revealed how much the rings will cost for the public.

Spain was playing for more than the World Cup trophy. They were playing for rings as well.

For the first time, FIFA is awarding rings to commemorate a championship. Title-winning teams receiving rings is a tradition in North American sports that dates back to the late 19th century, but something that isn't commonplace in other parts of the world.

FIFA 'to use' Lyon's Unknow Brand for 2026 World Cup champions' ring

FIFA is introducing a champions’ ring at the 2026 World Cup. L’Équipe reports that Unknow Brand, a Lyon jeweller, was picked to create the three-dimensional design.

In a first for football inspired by North American leagues, the winners will receive a ring alongside the trophy on Sunday after Spain face Argentina in the final.

Founded in 2017 by Florian de Launay, Unknow Brand mixes French craft with American influences. Since 2024, France international Vincent Poirier, a former NBA player, has been a shareholder.

Thirty rings will be made for the winning squad and staff. One face will carry the World Cup trophy, the other customised in the champion nation’s colours.

‘It’s a draft proposal’: Albanese government denies major new tax plans

The Albanese government has denied it plans to implement a gas tax despite Laborâs draft national platform endorsing the proposal.

The Albanese government has denied it plans to implement a new gas tax despite a clause in Labor’s draft National Platform endorsing the plan.

Labor delegates from around the country will come together to hash out the platform at a three-day National Conference in Adelaide later this week.

While Labor’s federal caucus has the ultimate say on the policies that the Albanese government takes to an election, the National Platform lays out the party’s values and long-term policy goals.

Gas tax plans to be enshrined in ALP policy platform

The Albanese government will breathe life into the prospect of a gas tax at next week’s signature ALP National Conference by enshrining in Labor’s policy platform a pledge to give the Australian people a fairer return from their natural resources.

As part of a broader shift towards wealth redistribution begun at the May budget, which will also become party lore next week, the government will effectively commit itself to raising more revenue from gas in the future.

Bobby Hill begins talks with Collingwood over ending contract

Norm Smith medallist Bobby Hill appears to have played his last game for Collingwood.

7NEWS can reveal conversations have commenced between Hill’s management and the Pies to finalise his departure from the club.

An agreement to cease the 26-year-old’s contract is expected in coming weeks.

Hill signed a contract in April last year to remain with the Pies until 2030 worth approximately $750,000 per season.

Hill made sporadic returns from personal leave to the Magpies throughout 2026 and played the last of three VFL games in May.

Collingwood officials headlined by coach Craig McRae made repeated attempts to support Hill’s wellbeing away from the club.

Collingwood forward set for departure as three clubs pose as potential destinations

Collingwood forward Bobby Hill is unlikely to play for the club again, with reports indicating the Pies have commenced talks with his management to terminate his contract.

Since midway through last year, Hill has failed to be at the club consistently, playing only one half of football amid multiple periods of personal leave.

The 2023 Norm Smith medallist made attempts to return to the senior side, including three VFL appearances in May.

According to Channel Seven, Hill would be open to continuing his career in Queensland, while Port Adelaide also presents as a potential destination given the strong Indigenous cohort.

However, it is understood clubs are yet to make a move for Hill. His contract runs until the end of 2030, a deal he signed in April last year.

UPDATED Ballon d’Or Power Rankings: Our top 10 ahead of World Cup Final

We’ve updated our Ballon d’Or power rankings ahead of the World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina. Here’s who should be leading the race according to our calculations…

With the World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina approaching, it’s time to look at who could be in line to win world football’s most coveted individual prize.

Traditionally in a World Cup year, performances on the biggest stage go a long way to determining who will win the Ballon d’Or, although club accolades are of course still very pertinent in the conversation.

LAST WEEK’S RANKINGS: View the top 10 we had before the World Cup semis

Kylian Mbappe ruled out of contention for 2026 Ballon d'Or as World Cup final-bound Lionel Messi puts himself in the mix for ninth Golden Ball

Defeat against Spain has, however, ensured that more international glory will fall agonisingly out of reach. At club level, the 2025-26 campaign delivered

Those issues will work against Mbappe as the grandest of prizes – such as

He has guided the Albiceleste to another World Cup final, netting eight goals of his own, and is looking to successfully defend a title that was secured at Qatar 2022. A ninth Golden Ball could be passed in his direction if another talismanic performance is produced against Spain.

“Even if on a personal level, I thought he had a great season, scored a ridiculous amount of goals and carried the team for most part of the season. So, individually, he's had a fantastic season but, unfortunately, without winning any trophies we know the rules to be a Ballon d'Or. You've got to win, Champions League or World Cup or Euros.

Messi pulls ahead of Yamal in Ballon d’Or race, with all to play for at World Cup

Bookies, prediction markets make Lionel Messi favourite to claim trophy despite 39-year-old playing in a second-tier domestic competition

Lionel Messi may not play in one of the best domestic competitions, but his performance at the World Cup has made him favourite to win the Ballon d’Or this year.

The Argentinian has raced ahead of rivals Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane by reaching the final, with bookies and prediction markets shortening the odds on him claiming a record-extending ninth trophy for the game’s best player.

Spain’s Lamine Yamal could yet upset the 39-year-old’s apple cart though, with the teenager second favourite and in a position to deny Messi back-to-back World Cup titles.
