US-Iran truce could slash petrol price to N900 – Operators

The price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) may drop to as low as N900 per litre in the coming days if the proposed peace deal between the United States and Iran materialises and crude oil prices continue their downward trend, industry operators have stated.

Recent developments in the Middle East have triggered a sustained decline in global oil prices, fuelling expectations that fuel prices could also fall at the pumps.

From over $120 per barrel in April, crude oil prices dropped to about $87 per barrel as of Sunday. The sustained decline, coupled with plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, is generating cautious optimism among fuel marketers that prices of petrol, diesel and aviation fuel may ease in the coming days.

Bonny Light plunges as US-Iran truce threatens Nigerian oil premium

Nigerian crude blends and major oil contracts plummeted after the US and Iran reached a temporary agreement to put an end to their months-long conflict.

Nigerian crude blends and major oil contracts plummeted after the US and Iran reached a temporary agreement to put an end to their months-long conflict.

The peace initiative and subsequent announcement that the Strait of Hormuz -a vital transit corridor, handling 20% of global oil traffic- is to be reopened sent to the markets tumbling.

Immediately, light sweet crudes such as Bonny Light, the flagship Nigerian oil, and Qua Iboe came under pressure.

Prices reacted to the impending reintroduction of stranded Middle Eastern oil to the market.

‘This s**t’s hilarious’: USA pundit doubles down on Socceroos call as WC heat builds

US pundit Mike Grella has gone after Australia again, after being ripped for his silly pre-World Cup tournament comments about the Socceroos.

Ahead of a potentially group-deciding clash with the USA on Saturday morning, the former player has been trolled for his claims the Socceroos have no chance of “doing anything”.

“I’m not kidding though when I say this, what are they drinking over there because they have no shot of doing anything at the World Cup,” he now-infamously said.

‘Let these people talk’: After silencing Turkey, Irankunda turns to his American doubters

Vancouver: Hakan Çalhanoğlu, you are dismissed. Mike Grella, you’re up next. Nestory Irankunda is ready to make you eat your words, too.

Irankunda has seen the clip of Grella – a former American player-turned-loudmouth pundit for CBS Sports, he of the infamous “lay-up” prediction – repeating his name in jest, referring to him as Australia’s best player in an almost mocking tone.

The implication being that, if he is their best player, the Socceroos are no good, and therefore will be no match for the United States.

“But at the end of the day, you’ve got to let these people talk – and it was the same with these lot here. They came, they did their talking, but they couldn’t back it on the field, and we got the win.

What does the US-Iran deal mean for oil prices and the world economy?

More than three months after the US and Israel first began their war with Iran, the White House and the Iranian regime have agreed a framework deal to bring about a more long-term end to hostilities.

The Middle East crisis sent global oil prices soaring as the conflict effectively closed one of the world's key water transport routes for oil, liquid natural gas and other essential commodities, limiting global supplies.

But experts warn a return to normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will take time, and the impact of the war will continue to affect the global economy for potentially months to come.

Oil prices are falling. So why am I still bullish on BP shares?

BP (LSE: BP.) shares have lost ground as oil prices slide following the Iran ceasefire agreement. That’s hardly surprising. With the immediate threat to Middle Eastern supply fading, investors have quickly removed much of the risk premium built into crude prices.

However, I think the market may be looking in the wrong place. The bigger story isn’t geopolitics — it’s whether global oil supplies are as comfortable as many currently believe.

The ceasefire agreement has undoubtedly reduced immediate concerns over Middle Eastern supply disruptions. But I think investors may be overlooking a more important issue.

Over the past few years, one of the world’s largest emergency oil buffers has been steadily depleted. The US Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) remains near levels not seen since the early 1980s after hundreds of millions of barrels were released to help stabilise energy markets and keep fuel prices under control.

Is the BP share price about to crash?

I think our collective hearts broke a little during last night’s episode of Farmer Wants A Wife, when not one but two of his ladies decided country life wasn’t quite the fairytale they’d signed up for.

The first blow came courtesy of Jessie, who decided she couldn’t continue the journey and head back to the farm.

The remaining women, who had just arrived at Jason’s property, broke the news to a visibly devastated farmer who, like a knight in shining armour, hopped on his noble steed (in his Mitsubishi ute) and drove off to check that she was okay.

Farmer Wants a Wife is considered one of the more gentle reality TV dating programs on Australian television, so viewers have been left shocked by a seeming mass exodus on Farmer Jason’s farm: Jessie didn’t turn up to the farm, and Jessica has seemingly walked out.

Last week, we were already perplexed when only seven ladies turned up to Farmer Jason’s speed dates instead of eight. Things got more dramatic this week, though.

‘I’ve wasted your time’: Bombshell confession on Farmer Wants A Wife

There will be tears, tantrums and shock exits on Sunday night’s Farmer Wants A Wife as the farmers face their first elimination.

As all five farmers welcome their top five ladies to the farm, tensions quickly rise when details from the coveted 24-hour dates are revealed.

For some women, discovering they missed out on the season’s first kiss proves difficult to swallow.

But before the first elimination ceremony even begins, drama erupts across the country.

“I’m pretty shocked … is it something I’ve done?” Jason asks.

When he tracks her down for answers, she delivers a bombshell confession: “I’ve wasted your time.”

Lamine Yamal fit to start on bench for Spain vs Cape Verde at World Cup

‌Victor Munoz is also fit to play, as coach Luis de la Fuente says he has no concerns over his players’ fitness.

Click here to follow our live coverage of Spain against Cape Verde.

Spain winger Lamine Yamal is fit and ready to come off the bench in his side’s opening World Cup game, but manager Luis de la Fuente says that his introduction will depend on how the Group H match with Cape Verde progresses.

“The good news is that Lamine is very fit,” de la Fuente told reporters on Sunday.

Yamal has not played since April, with the 18-year-old struggling with groin issues and a hamstring injury. He missed Spain’s recent friendlies, but his coach has no concerns over his fitness. The situation is the same for Nico Williams and Victor Munoz.

Zuhria Al Hattab survived the night the sky fell on her grandmother's house in northern Gaza.

She survived the journey south — hands raised, white flag up — along a corridor the Israeli military had designated a 'safe route', until the bombs started raining again.

"The whole road was blood and martyrs and body parts, severed heads, severed hands," she tells SBS News of the aftermath of Israel's bombardment during the daytime truce.

After fleeing the bombardment of Gaza, 34-year-old teacher Zuhria Al Hattab faces agonizing visa uncertainty within Australia's shrinking humanitarian program.

Having survived the relentless bombardment of northern Gaza and an exhausting escape through Egypt, 34-year-old primary school teacher Zuhria Al Hattab now faces a new, bureaucratic purgatory halfway across the world in Perth, Australia.

Al Hattab is one of roughly 1,700 Palestinians currently holding temporary visas with no guaranteed pathway to permanent residency under Australia's increasingly restricted humanitarian program. Her plight embodies the agonizing uncertainty endured by displaced populations who manage to escape physical conflict only to find themselves trapped in the crosshairs of shifting domestic immigration politics.
