    ‘Running Point’ & ‘Beef’ Return To Netflix With Middling Results

    Two of Netflix‘s star series returned this month, but audiences have been slow to catch on. Both Beef and Running Point both debuted their second seasons over the past two weeks or so to pretty middling results.

    Beef, which debuted on April 16, managed 4.1M views in its first full week on the streamer, boosting it to No. 3 on the global English TV Top 10 from April 20 to 26. That’s up 70% from its debut weekend, signaling that Season 2 is at least generating a little bit of momentum, but the raw numbers aren’t looking great.

    Season 2 launched to just over 2M views in its first four days, down nearly 60% from Season 1’s premiere weekend, to land at No. 7 on the weekly rankings.

    Spotify stock plummets after earnings beat expectations as guidance disappoints

    Shares of Swedish audio-streamer Spotify fell over 13% after the market opened Tuesday, as soft guidance overshadowed an earnings beat.

    The company said first-quarter revenue rose 8% from last year to 4.5 billion euros ($5.3 billion), while monthly active users (MAUs) rose 12% year-on-year to 761 million, both slightly above FactSet estimates.

    Premium subscribers grew 9% to 293 million, reflecting 3 million quarterly net adds, Spotify said. 

    For the current quarter, Spotify expects to add 17 million net users to reach 778 million MAUs. It expects to grow its premium subscribers by 6 million to 299 million.

    While second-quarter MAU guidance was slightly above Wall Street's expectations, net premium subscribers had been expected to grow to just over 300.4 million, according to analysts polled by FactSet.

    It's easy to imagine you would act rationally, morally and without hesitation but Should I Marry a Murderer?, Netflix's new true crime documentary, suggests that in real life, love complicates everything.

    In 2017, drink-driver Alexander McKellar – known as Sandy – struck and killed charity cyclist Tony Parsons in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. McKellar and his twin brother Robert then buried Parsons' body.

    It lay there undiscovered for three years until McKellar's new girlfriend, Dr Caroline Muirhead, found out the truth and led police to the shallow grave.

    NASA offers a free interactive tool that allows users to type their name into a search bar and see it spelled out in natural formations on Earth as viewed from outer space, courtesy of data from NASA's Landsat satellites.

    "With each new launch, Landsat’s decades-long data record becomes even more valuable. As the longest continuous space-based record of Earth’s surface, Landsat offers a unique resource to scientists studying long-term changes. Researchers have used Landsat’s archive to study how cities have grown, coastlines have shifted, crop cycles have changed, and forests have transformed since the 1970s," NASA's website says.

    We’ve all heard of something written in the stars. NASA being NASA, found a way to do it with our planet.

    For Earth Day, the agency released a delightfully nerdy tool that lets you type in any name or word and see it spelled out in real satellite images using rivers, islands, glaciers, deserts, and coastlines that just happen to look like letters from orbit.

    It’s a small, charming trick. But behind it is something much bigger: more than 50 years of Landsat imagery, a planetary archive that has watched forests shrink, cities spread, ice retreat, and landscapes change in slow motion.

    A Helensburgh man’s morning commute came with an unexpected pit stop after he discovered he’d scored $8 million in Oz Lotto.

    The New South Wales resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1680, drawn Tuesday 28 April 2026. He pocketed a whopping $8 million.

    Despite snagging a multi-million dollar win, the hardworking man shared he wouldn’t be retiring anytime soon.

    “Haha! What a wonderful call!” he laughed while speaking to an official from The Lott.

    “At first, a prize amount of $14.90 just appeared so I had no idea that I’d won big, I just thought ‘Surely you’re not calling about that’.

    A new country has become Australia's top source of migration

    England has been overtaken as Australia's top overseas country of origin for the first time since records began.

    People born in India made up the largest proportion of those born overseas for the first time on record, narrowly edging out English-born residents in 2025.

    New Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows that the country's estimated resident population on 30 June last year was 27.6 million, comprising 8.83 million people born overseas.

    India pips England to become Australia’s top overseas country of birth

    India has overtaken England to become Australia’s top overseas country of birth as the overseas-born share of the national population climbed to 32 per cent, the highest since 1891.

    Australia had 8.8 million overseas-born residents in 2025 compared to 18.8 million people born within the country, figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday show.

    The Indian-born population rose to 971,020 making it the largest group born overseas for the first time. The number of residents born in India has risen by 522,000 since 2015.

    Those born in England made up the second-largest group (970,950) with China third (732,000), New Zealand fourth (638,000) and the Philippines fifth (412,530).

    The ABS said the proportion of overseas-born people in Australia is approaching the all-time high of 32.4 per cent reached in 1891, when the national population was about 2.7 million.

    New group becomes Australia’s largest foreign-born population for first time

    An Asian country has surpassed England as the number one source of foreign-born residents in Australia for the first time.

    India has narrowly overtaken England as Australia’s largest estimated foreign-born resident group for the first time.

    New data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Wednesday revealed Indian-born people numbered an estimated 971,020 as at June 30, 2025.  

    The year prior, English-born residents led those born in India 963,560 to 916,330 respectively.  

    The Indian-born population has seen the largest increase in the population since 2015, while those born in England have slowly declined.

    Historical population data records show England had consistently formed the largest single cohort of foreign-born residents at any one time, at least since 1901.
