Middlesbrough 3-1 QPR – Boro maintain 100% record under Hellberg
Middlesbrough made it four wins from four under new head coach Kim Hellberg as they cruised past Queens Park Rangers in the Championship.
Boro dominated from the start and were two up by the break thanks to David Strelec and a sixth goal in six games from Morgan Whittaker.
A penalty from Tommy Conway – his first goal since August – wrapped things up five minutes into the second half.
The victory keeps them within five points of leaders Coventry City, but they extended the gap to third place to seven points.
Nicolas Madsen pulled one back for QPR from the penalty spot in what was only a second loss in six games for the Hoops, who dropped down to ninth.
Clarke-Salter back and QPR duo return to training
Julien Stephan has confirmed that Jake Clarke-Salter is set to return to the QPR squad for Saturday’s game at Middlesbrough.
The former Chelsea defender recently returned to action after a long absence but is being eased back, so was rested for midweek games against Blackburn and Birmingham.
Having sat out Tuesday’s dramatic win over Birmingham, he is back in contention to feature against Boro.
Meanwhile, Sam Field and Harvey Vale returned to full training on Friday.
Field suffered a groin injury during the recent defeat at Norwich and it was initially feared he faced a lengthy spell out, but he has responded well to treatment.
