Carlos Alcaraz is parting ways with his longtime coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, the man who guided him to the pinnacle of men's tennis during a seven-year partnership, the top-ranked player announced Wednesday on social media.

With Ferrero, Alcaraz claimed six Grand Slam titles: two French Open titles, two Wimbledon crowns and two US Opens. He amassed 24 tour-level titles, including eight Masters 1000 trophies. The 22-year-old had a career-best and season-leading 71 match wins and claimed eight titles this season.

Alcaraz splits with long-time coach Ferrero

Carlos Alcaraz has surprisingly split with his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero after seven years working together.

Alcaraz has worked with Ferrero – who won the French Open as a player in 2003 – since he was a teenager, winning all of his 24 career titles alongside him.

That includes six grand slam triumphs, two of which came this year at Roland-Garros and the US Open, and eight ATP 1000 crowns.

Alcaraz was just 15 when he started working with Ferrero, with their partnership ending after he secured the year-end number one spot for the second time (also 2022).

No reason was given for the spilt as Alcaraz announced the news via a statement on social media, which read: "Thank you for turning childhood dreams into realities.

A 17-year-old girl has died after falling from a cliff at Moffat Beach on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency services were called about 6:40pm on Saturday following reports a teenage girl had fallen near a lookout on Queen of Colonies Parade.

She was located in a life-threatening condition with serious head injuries and died at the scene.

A second woman sustained a minor injury while trying to assist the teenager before emergency services arrived, police said.

Multiple victims reported after active shooter at Brown University

Multiple people have been shot at Brown University in the United States, according to police, who are responding to reports of an active shooter on campus.

Police did not immediately release details about the victims’ conditions or the circumstances of the shooting.

Officials initially said a suspect was in custody, before saying that was not in fact the case and police were still searching for a suspect or suspects.

The incident was reported near the Barus & Holley building, a seven-storey structure that houses the School of Engineering and Physics Department, according to the school's website.

The shooter remains at large after the university reversed an earlier alert that said that one person was in custody.

Brown University said on its website a short time ago that the situation remains ongoing.

"Situation remains ongoing. Continue to shelter in place. Law enforcement on site," it said on its website in an update at 5:52 p.m.

Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are responding to Brown University, the agency’s Boston field office said.

“ATF agents are responding to the Brown University active shooter incident,” ATF Boston said on X.

Brown University's Barus & Holley building, in the area where authorities have warned of an active shooter, houses the institution's engineering and physics departments.

Emirates Airbus A380 Grounded After Fuel Truck Collision At Manchester Airport

An Emirates A380 was struck by a fuel truck at Manchester Airport on Friday, damaging one of its engine cowlings. The incident forced Emirates to cancel its scheduled return flight to Dubai, and the aircraft involved was grounded in Manchester for more than two days after the incident.

Images of the aircraft shared on social media show a hole in the lip section of an engine cowling. Emirates worked quickly to perform repairs on the damaged engine, getting the aircraft back in the air just over two days after the incident.

As first reported by X account @aviationbrk, the collision happened on the apron at Manchester Airport (MAN) as an Emirates Airbus A380 (registration: A6-EVP) was preparing to depart for Dubai International Airport (DXB). The flight was scheduled to depart Manchester at 1:15 PM local time ahead of its arrival into Dubai at 12.25 AM+1. The double-decker had just completed flight EK17 — a seven-hour journey from DXB — and was preparing to operate the return flight when the incident took place.

Emirates Airbus A380 Grounded at Manchester Airport After Collision

MANCHESTER- An Emirates Airline (EK) Airbus A380 was grounded at Manchester Airport (MAN) after a fuel truck struck the aircraft while it was parked at the gate. The impact damaged an engine intake and forced the airline to cancel the scheduled EK18 service to Dubai (DXB).

The aircraft involved was an Airbus A380 operated by Emirates. It remained out of service at Manchester Airport (MAN) through 15:30 UTC on November 30, following the incident two days earlier.

The collision occurred on November 28 when a fuel truck made contact with one of the A380 engine intakes during ground operations.

The aircraft, registered A6 EVP, is 5.3 years old and powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines according to planespotters.net. Initial inspections identified structural damage to the affected intake, which required the airline to keep the aircraft grounded for further technical evaluation.

Hundreds of passengers have been caught up in a cruise tragedy after a Melbourne man was lost at sea on a Disney ship bound for Auckland.

Victoria Police said the 73-year-old man, from the north Melbourne suburb of Moonee Ponds, jumped overboard at 4.30am on Saturday as Disney Wonder sailed towards Auckland.

The ship turned around in the Tasman Sea in a bid to find the passenger but the man could not be located.

Passengers initially noticed the Disney Wonder had turned around about 12pm on Saturday.

It sailed back approximately five hours and circled the waters before the captain announced to the ship there was sadly no sign of him.

Man dies after falling from Disney cruise

A Melbourne man has died after going overboard a Disney Cruise ship travelling to Auckland.

In a statement, Victoria Police confirmed a report will be prepared for the coroner following the death of a 73-year-old man from Moonee Ponds, an inner-city suburb of Melbourne.

“It is understood the man died after he jumped from a cruise liner into waters in the Tasman Sea on Saturday about 4.30am,” a police spokeswoman said.

Victoria Police are not treating the man’s death as suspicious.
