    When do clocks fall back? 2026 daylight saving time start and end

    Daylight saving time will end at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, when clocks turn back one hour.

    The annual “fall back” means an extra hour of sleep and a return to standard time. It also means an earlier sunset, with darkness arriving noticeably sooner in the late afternoon and evening.

    Under current federal law, daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November. This year, that puts the end of daylight saving time on Nov. 1. Michigan will remain on standard time until clocks move forward again in March 2027.

    At 2 a.m. on Nov. 1, clocks will turn back one hour, from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m.

    Mark your calendars: Daylight saving time ends in a matter of weeks, meaning most Americans will set their clocks back one hour and gain an extra hour of sleep.

    Although Congress had been considering making daylight saving time permanent, the annual fall clock change remains in place for now.

    Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November. In 2026, that date falls on Nov. 1, the earliest possible date for the annual time change.

    We change the clocks each year so more sunlight happens "during more of the hours when people are typically active," according to a Congressional Research Service report.

    Greyhound track approved last week may never host races

    A $15 million plan to turn Orange's disused trotting track into a greyhound course was approved by a planning panel last week, despite community and council opposition.  

    Greyhound Racing NSW says it may not register the new track, citing falling breeding rates, commercial viability and sustainability concerns. 

    Greyhound Racing New South Wales has warned that a newly approved track in the state's Central West is unlikely to receive registration due to challenges facing the sport.

    The $15 million "Centre of Excellence" in Orange was approved by the state government's Western Regional Planning Panel (WRPP) on April 21.

    Fresh threat could derail greyhound track as peak racing body issues dire warning

    A fresh threat has emerged that could derail the possibility of greyhound racing happening in Orange.

    On April 21, the Western Region Planning Panel unanimously granted development approval for a greyhound racing track to be built at 32 Perc Griffith Way.

    It was this decision which led many to believe that greyhounds would soon be racing in Orange once more.

    But less than a week after that monumental decision, the CEO of Greyhound Racing NSW put out a message which could signal the project's demise.
