55 min Hakimi cracks a free-kick around the wall. It bounces up awkwardly and is well held by David Raya.

54 min Saka is booked for a foul challenge on Doue. His studs bounced off the ball and scraped the sliding Doue’s shin. The free-kick is about 28 yards from goal; Vitinha, Hakimi and Nuno Mendes are over it.

53 min PSG are still trusting the process, but they must be starting to wonder whether it’s going to work tonight. They can’t get behind Arsenal for love nor money.

Max Dowman Makes More Premier League History As Arsenal Clinch Title

Arsenal prodigy Max Dowman will wrap a historic season by breaking yet another age-related record, becoming the youngest player to win a Premier League title.

When Dowman receives his Premier League winners’ medal after the final whistle of Sunday’s match against Crystal Palace, the day Arsenal will lift the trophy as English soccer champions for the first time in 22 years, the teenage winger will be 16 years and 144 days old.

That shatters the previous as the youngest champion, set by Phil Foden when he was a fringe part of Manchester City’s 2017–18 title-winning team, by more than a year.

Foden was less than three weeks away from turning 18 at that time, whereas Dowman only turned 16 five months ago.

Will Max Dowman get a Premier League winner’s medal?

The Guinness World Records have confirmed that Max Dowman has achieved a new record as the youngest football player to win the Premier League. The midfielder will be 16 years and 144 days at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Dowman is already guaranteed to receive a winner’s medal, as Premier League guidelines mandate that every player to make five or more appearances must receive one of the 40 medals on offer.

Dowman has made exactly five so far, though he may now find himself earning a sixth at the weekend given the pressure is off against Crystal Palace.

The teenager wasn’t just there for the ride either, winning a penalty for a goal against Leeds United in August, and scoring a memorable goal against Everton in March.

Gyökeres double fires Arsenal past Fulham to turn title pressure on Manchester City

Arsenal supporters had almost forgotten what it was like to win without their nerves being shredded. They were reacquainted with the feeling on an occasion when everything felt right from the start and got better and better. It was all over by half-time, Arsenal three goals to the good and the Emirates Stadium purring over a virtuoso Bukayo Saka performance.

The England winger had not been himself before he was forced to take time out at the end of March to rest an achilles problem – and one or two others aches. He was back in the starting XI here and the bang he produced could be heard in Manchester. City do not play until Monday night. They will kick off at Everton six points behind Arsenal at the top, albeit having played two games fewer. Arsenal have turned up the heat inexorably.

Trossard led an Arsenal break with a surge through the inside-left channel. He beat his man in the area and stood up an inviting cross towards the far post. It was slightly behind Gyokeres, who showed his finishing expertise by straining his neck muscles to loop a header over Leno. He took that beautifully.

45+2 min I think this is the first time Saka has scored and created a goal all season, since 2024 in fact. If so, he’s picked a very good time to signal a return to form. The Emirates is a totally different place to the Newcastle game a week ago.

Man City vs Arsenal: All you need to know about title showdown

Under-pressure Arsenal head to in-form Manchester City as their strangle hold on Premier League title race falters.

    Who: Manchester City vs Arsenal
    What: English Premier League (EPL)
Where: Etihad Stadium, Manchester, United Kingdom

The Premier League title race could be on course for a unique end to the season, with Arsenal and Manchester City potentially facing a playoff to be crowned winners.

It is the latest intrigue added to the race for the trophy which Arsenal, just a little over a month ago, looked to have wrapped up as they seek to end their 22-year wait to be crowned English champions.

Premier League shootout arrives with odd twist for ‘feelings guy’ Guardiola

Manchester City v Arsenal is a rare late-season title decider and comes with a set of surprising plotlines

OK, so it was all building to this, then. The slow‑burn plotlines. The room‑temperature action sequences. The winter afternoons on the sofa watching men wrestle unhappily, staring out of the window as the frigid wind tousles the clouds, wondering about the death of all things, and also why referees not only have to speak now but speak in the same awkward Yorkshire bingo‑caller voice.

All of this. It’s all actually fine. Because it turns out this was just delayed resolution, cinematic build, the sporting equivalent of a really long closeup of a man in a wide-brimmed Mexican hat narrowing his eyes and chewing a cigar. And now we get the payoff. The Etihad on Sunday afternoon. The clink of spurs. The tick of the clocktower. Townsfolk huddled at the saloon-bar shutters. Get ready for an old-school shootout.

Manchester City and Arsenal meet at Etihad Stadium on Sunday in a Premier League title showdown that could go a long way toward deciding this season's champion.

The Gunners sit first in the table with 70 points, holding a six-point lead over City with a handful of matches left in the campaign.

Mikel Arteta's side is looking to protect its advantage on the road against a City side that has found its best form at the right time. Anything but a loss will be a great result for the visitors.

How Arsenal’s Next Five Premier League Games Compare to Man City’s

The fight for the English crown is beginning to look a little like a runaway.

After FA Cup fixtures took center stage last weekend, Premier League action returned with a bang on Saturday. League-leaders Arsenal looked in danger of dropping points to Everton, but two late goals from Viktor Gyökeres and 16-year-old Max Downman secured all three points for the Gunners.

The pressure was on Manchester City to respond, but the Citizens could only manage a 1–1 draw with 17th place West Ham United. The title chasers, who still have a game in hand, have now dropped points in their last two matches, leaving the door open for Mikel Arteta’s men to go nine points clear.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Premier League swing weekends: Take nothing for granted – The Athletic

City's Erling Haaland, left, and Gabriel of Arsenal will play key roles in this title race Getty Images

Last week, an American reality-show contestant posted footage of himself in the recovery room of a hospital after an operation. He had tubes in his nose and those woozy, cartoonish eyes of post-anaesthesia.

His loved ones were eager for him to articulate something, but didn’t necessarily expect his first words to be an urgent question requiring urgent action to answer.

Once that sunk in, the next impulse was, “How did Man City do?”

It has been like this for a while now, as it always is when two heavyweights are slugging it out at the top of the table. Try as everyone might to focus only upon themselves and what they can control, the knowledge that a rival team are on a parallel course is permanently relevant. Dominant thought: us. Follow-up thought: them.

Premier League: How the run-in is shaping up – title, Champions League and relegation

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal hold a seven-point lead over Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at the top

With fewer than 10 rounds of games left, we take a look at how the Premier League title race, the fight for Champions League places and the relegation battle are shaping up.

At the summit, Arsenal enjoy a seven-point lead over Manchester City but have played a game more.

Looking at the remaining fixtures, the Gunners have a slightly easier run-in on paper, although their eight remaining games include what could be a title-defining trip to the Etihad on 19 April.

Beyond that, it is worth noting that four of Arsenal's next five league games are at home against mid-table sides while four of Manchester City's next five are away, including a trip to Chelsea.

When is Man City vs. Arsenal? Date and time of huge game in Premier League title race

Arsenal are on course to claim their first Premier League title for 22 years.

Mikel Arteta's side have a nine-point lead at the summit with seven games remaining in England's top flight. However, the identity of their closest challengers still brings a considerable measure of anxiety.

On the first two of Arsenal's three consecutive second-place finishes over the past three seasons, Manchester City were champions. The Gunners collapsed from a position of strength in 2022/23 before taking the race to the wire a year later, when City's final-day victory over West Ham edged them over the line.

The most recent of those triumphs marked a record fourth league title in a row, a previously unprecedented feat in English football.

Arsenal are looking to further their lead at the top of the Premier League as they welcome Everton, and you can follow it all with ESPN.

Today's hosts were last in action midweek — as they were held by Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of their last-16 tie, with Kai Havertz scoring a late penalty against his former club.

Eighth-placed Everton haven't played since a 2-0 win over Burnley on March 3, with James Tarkowski and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall delivering the goals. A 12-day gap should mean today's guests are well-rested.

How bad were Arsenal in midweek? Not as bad as the other English teams in the Champions League. Their 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen didn’t look good at the time but turned out to be the best result of the round, equal with Newcastle (1-1 v Barcelona) and arguably better because Arsenal are at home for the second leg. But quite a few Arsenal fans seem to feel their team are a bit jaded: it will be interesting to see if Havertz, Calafiori and Madueke can galvanise them.

Will Everton's formidable away form upset Arsenal's title challenge?

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was a key part of a 12th away win since the return of David Moyes as manager against Newcastle United two weeks ago

As a man with 745 games managed, David Moyes knows his way better than most around the Premier League block, particularly when it comes to winning away games.

Since the 62-year-old returned to Merseyside for a second spell 14 months ago, Everton have won the most matches on the road of any Premier League side other than Arsenal.

The Toffees are unbeaten away from home since mid-December and next travel to Emirates Stadium on Saturday with a record of four wins in their past five away matches.

You have reached ESPN's Australian edition. Stay on current site or go to US version.

Mikel Arteta said he believes Arsenal belong at Europe's top table, but urged his team to prove their Champions League credentials against Bayer Leverkusen.

Arteta has overseen the Gunners' first knockout stage win in 14 years and their first semifinal appearance in 16 years over the past two seasons.

Arsenal won all eight of their league phase matches and are favourites to progress to the latter stages once more with Leverkusen, Bundesliga champions in 2023-24, currently in sixth place in the table.

Asked if Arsenal had established themselves alongside Europe's best, Arteta said: "I believe so. This is football and you have to show it tomorrow night.

Competitive balance across Europe’s leagues would be transformed with the adoption of a new model for distributing revenue from the Champions League and other Uefa club competitions, according to a proposal by the Union of European Clubs (UEC).

Clubs competing in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League benefit this season from a bumper €3.317bn (£2.87bn) prize pot, culled from annual €4.4bn revenue primarily generated by media rights sales. Only €308m of the latter figure is divided among clubs who did not reach those competitions, in the form of solidarity payments.
