Aussie drops $17,500 on airport billboard as Budget tax backlash builds: 'Aren't being listened to'
Politicians will be flying into the nation’s capital this morning as Parliament begins a new sitting week. And Joseph Daoud has a big message for them.
The founder of a mortgage brokerage firm has paid to erect a billboard outside the airport, as well messages on digital surfaces inside the terminal, criticising the Budget changes to capital gains tax that extend beyond housing, to increase taxes on share investors and businesses.
“Investing in shares? Saving a deposit? Building a business? Your ambition will be taxed under proposed CGT changes,” the billboard reads.

Politicians flying into Canberra on Monday for the sitting week or budget estimates will be welcomed by 18 conspicuous billboards with the same message: “Stop the ambition tax.”
Joseph Daoud, founder of mortgage broker It’s Simple Finance, has bought $17,500 worth of digital billboards inside and outside Canberra Airport that went live after midnight on Sunday morning and will stay up until the end of this sitting week.

Australian mortgage brokerage, It’sSimple.com.au, has launched a national advocacy campaign, ‘#StopTheAmbitionTax’, in response to the Federal Government’s proposed changes to Capital Gains Tax.
