    Stifling heat and broken toilets: TUI River Cruise passengers tell of their holiday hell

    Dozens of people have accused TUI River Cruises of operating vessels with faulty facilities including persistently broken air conditioning, after they spent thousands of pounds on holidays.

    Earlier this year passengers on the Skyla, a ship operated by TUI, contacted BBC Your Voice to say they had been stranded in Budapest during a heatwave with little to no air conditioning.

    Following that report more people got in touch to say they faced similar problems on both the Skyla and its sister vessel, the Isla. They criticised TUI's customer service and said the refunds offered were inadequate.

    TUI apologised to customers where trips "fell short of the standards we aim to deliver".

    He’s known as a ‘wild dog’. But Liam Martin’s pre-game antics will surprise you

    About the same time as 50,000 Queensland fans save their loudest boos for Liam Martin when his face is beamed on the big screen before kick-off on Wednesday night, the man himself will be following a strict pre-game ritual beneath Suncorp Stadium.

    The TV cameras captured Martin sitting in the sheds with his eyes closed and meditating before a game against the Gold Coast Titans a few weeks ago.

    Commentators had a laugh at the vision, while even his mates were quick to ridicule him via text message.

    Australian marathon record broken as 20-year drought ends

    Haftu Strintzos broke the Australian marathon record and became the first Australian man to win the Gold Coast Marathon in 20 years, in a remarkable run in crisp, sunny conditions on Sunday morning.

    Not even an hour earlier, Cameron Myers had scored a dominant victory in the men’s mile at the prestigious Prefontaine Classic in the United States – and become the outright national record holder in the process.

    The clock read 2:06:20 when Strintzos breasted the tape to win the Gold Coast Marathon.

    In a gutsy and pulsating dash to the finish line, it was touch and go whether the Ethiopian-born Aussie would knock off Andy Buchanan’s national record.

    Haftu Strintzos has broken the Australian record while becoming the first Australian man to win the Gold Coast Marathon in 20 years.

    Strintzos strode through the finish line tape in a blistering 2:06:20 on Sunday, bettering previous holder Andy Buchanan's record set in Valencia, Spain in 2024 by two seconds.

    It's just the third time in the last 40 years that the Australian milestone has tumbled and the first time it has happened on home soil in that period.

    Bear in mind that Cale has only made two Wallabies appearances, both against Wales in 2024.
