My first car: Mel Tracina’s 1989 Ford Telstar

Big Brother Australia host Mel Tracina's first car – a 1989 Ford Telstar – came from the scrap yard, but she loved it all the same.

New host of Big Brother Australia Mel Tracina remembers getting her first car – a 1989 Ford Telstar – from a second-hand wrecker all thanks to some intel from her father, Robert, who is mad about cars.

“Dad’s friend worked at the wreckers and saw the Ford Telstar, which was simply too good to wreck. He suggested Dad give it to me. I had just turned 18 and got my licence straight away. It was an automatic with velour seats and I was mad about the car. I didn’t have any expectations of what I wanted my first car to be, I was happy to have wheels and freedom,” Tracina says.

The attacker tried to "enter the court premises but, failing to do so, targeted a police vehicle," Mohsin Naqvi, the interior minister, told reporters.

He did not blame any militant group but added that authorities were "looking into all aspects" of the attack.

Suicide bombing in Islamabad kills 12, says Pakistan's interior minister

A suicide attack outside a court in Pakistan's capital Islamabad has killed 12 people and injured at least 27 more, the country's interior minister said.

Mohsin Naqvi said a bomber was planning to attack the district courthouse but was unable to get inside.

Naqvi said authorities would prioritise identifying the bomber, and that those involved would be brought to justice.

Suicide blasts in Islamabad have been rare in recent years. Footage from the scene on Tuesday showed the remains of a burnt out car and a police cordon in place.

He added that the attacker detonated the bomb close to a police car after waiting for up to 15 minutes.
