Who wins & why? Tips & predictions for Round 6, 2026

Round 6 is here as we enter a big weekend of footy.

In the wake of Gather Round, things kick off with perhaps the biggest rivalry in footy, with the Blues and Magpies meeting in Nick Daicos' 100th game.

Friday has an intriguing double-header as four strong sides take to the field, while the loser of Crows v Saints on Saturday night will also be a huge talking point.

We also celebrate superstar Lachie Neale and Cats great Mark Blicavs who reach 300 AFL games this weekend.

Carlton’s start to the year could hardly have been worse for Michael Voss. 1-4 through their first five, the Blues could easily have started without a win if not for a desperate four-point win over the lowly Tigers.

There's a sense of deja vu hovering over Princes Park. It might not be Groundhog Day, but what is happening on the field every week for Carlton seems to be echoing the past.

Carlton top brass hopes for ‘proper full four quarter’ Easter miracle

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.

After Carlton’s extraordinary final quarter capitulation to Melbourne on Sunday, it would seem even the club’s top brass is praying for an Easter miracle.

Carlton president Robert Priestley alluded to the club’s recent dramatic fadeouts during his opening remarks, and welcome to one of the event’s guest speakers Andy Lee, at the Blues’ annual Carlton In Business Major Luncheon on Wednesday.

The team, coached by Michael Voss, fell in a heap against Melbourne where, after being 20 points up in the final quarter, the Blues were run over by the Demons and ended up going down by 23 points.

What they said: Voss ahead of Round 4 against North

Head coach Michael Voss spoke about last week's loss to the Dees, and previews this Friday's SuperClash against North Melbourne.

"Some good conversations. In the wash-up of things, I mentioned half glass full versus half glass empty. We’ve taken a bit of an approach to be glass half full, and there have been some positives about what we’ve wanted to do and some of the transfer we’ve got from pre-season into our games.

"We’re seeing the majority of the time where that’s happening. But we’re in the finer margins and see where the next level of growth needs to come from. Sometimes that’s through conversations, but ultimately it comes through actions. That’s what we’ve got to be able to do next."
