Australian comedian Judith Lucy says she has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Australian comedian and actor Judith Lucy has announced she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will undergo a double mastectomy.

In a video posted to social media, Lucy said she received the diagnosis three weeks ago, which was "relatively" non-aggressive and in the early stages.

She said although she originally was slated to undergo a lumpectomy, her doctor found more cancer last week and decided to remove one of her breasts.

"I said, 'While you are there, let's get rid of the other one,'" she said.

Lucy, 58, took to her Instagram to make the announcement but did so in her usual tongue-in-cheek manner.

“If you’ve been wondering why I haven’t been posting much personal stuff the last couple of weeks. Here’s your answer. Strap in,” Lucy captioned a video of herself filmed in her home.

“Hi Australia, a little not-so-fun update from me. Yesterday three weeks ago I went to Moonee Ponds to pick up yet two more syringes of yet another stranger’s turds,” Lucy began an anecdote about how she discovered she had cancer.

‘Long story short, I’ve got breast cancer’: Comedian Judith Lucy reveals diagnosis

Comedian Judith Lucy has revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer … in a way only she could.

Lucy matter-of-factly delivers the health update in a video posted to social media, sandwiched between quick quips about her newly released wellness book and recent faecal transplants.

“Not so fun update from me,” Lucy says at the start of the Instagram video. “I got an email from BreastScreen Australia, telling me that my mammogram result was a bit weird. May I take this opportunity to say, ladies, for the love of god, keep up with your mammograms.

Lucy said three weeks ago she was going to “pick up yet two more syringes of yet another stranger’s turds” for her faecal transplants – following a bad virus she contracted while travelling through the Amazon in South America for an ayahuasca retreat – when she received the email.

Statesman, comedian and dealer of hard truths: how Kylian Mbappé became the king of this World Cup

The Frenchman is a footballer, flautist and a thespian. There’s no question he is the most thrilling and compelling figure at this year’s tournament

This has been the World Cup of characters, bold fashion statements, and bantz: we’ve had Thomas Tuchel rubber-banding around the England dressing room like a teen at his first all-ages rave, and Iván Barton booting Miguel Almirón from the field as if sentencing him to death. Mauricio Pochettino and his $500 overshirt have brought fresh energy and inspiration to the wardrobes of convex middle-aged men the world over. Jokester Javier Aguirre’s avuncular “fuck you” at Anthony Gordon has pushed bilateral relations between Mexico and England to their warmest point since the British-brokered peace that ended the Pastry War of 1839.

Kylian Mbappe revenge mission! Lionel Messi is in France superstar’s head as Les Bleus seek to banish painful memories of Argentine GOAT

Kylian Mbappe is on a Lionel Messi-themed revenge mission at the 2026 World Cup, Louis Saha has told GOAL, with France’s talismanic striker determined to right a few wrongs from Qatar 2022. Final agony – despite scoring a hat-trick against Argentina – was endured in the Middle East, but positive progress has been made through another major competition on North American soil.

Les Bleus headed into that tournament as favourites in the eyes of many, given the wealth of attacking riches at their disposal, and have been living up to that lofty billing as Mbappe thrives alongside Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise and Bradley Barcola.

Nobody is laughing at Donald Trump anymore

When I think of the difference between Donald Trump’s first term and Donald Trump’s second term, the image that stands out most is the president bombing.

It was this January’s keynote speech at the Alfalfa Club dinner, a hokey Washington institution that exists solely for the president to pop in once a year and fire off a bunch of jokes prepared by his speechwriters.

Trump broke with precedent and skipped it in his first term, but decided to give it a shot this time. On the surface, it might have seemed a subtle return to some kind of presidential normalcy — like his much-publicized first appearance at the better-known White House Correspondents’ Association’s dinner on Saturday, a media gathering that traditionally also features a presidential standup set.

Comedian Stanley Baxter dies aged 99

Scottish actor and comedian Stanley Baxter has died at the age of 99.

Born in Glasgow in 1926, he was one of the biggest stars on British television for several decades.

Baxter starred in a number of hit series between the 1960s and the 1980s, and was also known for his acting roles and as a pantomime regular.

His friend and biographer Brian Beacom said Baxter died on Thursday in Denville Hall, a north London care home for entertainment figures where he had lived since late 2023.

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland's Lunchtime Live programme, actress Elaine C Smith said Baxter was "an inspiration" and his death felt like "the end of something".

‘Astonishing’: how Stanley Baxter’s TV extravaganzas reached 20 million

The Scottish star used his exceptional gift for impersonations to create genre-mashing specials that were as epic as the Hollywood films they parodied. He was a perfectionist performer with huge talent

The description “special” is overused in television schedules; Stanley Baxter’s programmes justify it. The comedian is one of the few stars whose reputation rests on a handful of astonishing one-offs – standalone comic extravaganzas screened in the 1970s and 1980s, first by ITV’s London Weekend Television and then the BBC.

In both cases, the networks ended their associations with Baxter not because of lack of audience interest – at their peak, the shows reached more than 20 million viewers – but due to the colossal costs demanded by the performer’s vast and perfectionist visual ambition. One of Baxter’s favourite conceits was to re-create, in witty pastiche, scenes from big-budget Hollywood movies that made it look as if his versions had also spent millions of dollars.
