The $4 million man: Cummins offered monster deal as rivals come after cricket stars
Australia’s captain Pat Cummins has been offered a Cricket Australia contract extension to 2029 that would raise his earnings to around $4 million per year, ahead of a gruelling season that could see his team play 21 Tests in 12 months.
CA has also been in talks for similar deals with the likes of Travis Head, who, alongside Cummins, was last year offered around $10 million to quit Australian cricket and take up franchise cricket full-time.
Cummins’ salary will jump by about $1 million per year, and amount to about $12 million over three years, if he signs the long-term deal. The Test captain came in at No.15 on a recent list of Australia’s top sports earners compiled by this masthead, with overall earnings of $9-10 million last year, including his commercial partnerships and Indian Premier League deals.
Star Aussies set for mega CA paydays as $12m deal emerges in shock Cummins report
To help prevent overseas T20 leagues from poaching the country’s biggest stars, Cricket Australia has reportedly offered Pat Cummins a $12 million long-term deal, ensuring the national captain prioritises Test cricket until 2029.
As revealed by The Sydney Morning Herald, CA has offered Cummins a three-year contract extension worth $4 million annually, while multi-format opener Travis Head is in talks to earn a similar deal. Despite some speculation about his spot in the Test side, Marnus Labuschagne has also been offered a three-year deal, according to the report.

The Aussies only recently played in Pakistan in January and February as a warm-up for the T20 World Cup. That series was disastrous preparation, ending in a 3-0 loss.
This tour of Pakistan will be followed by a return to Bangladesh for an ODI and T20 series.
