    US officials have revealed a preliminary memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran to end the costly 110-day conflict

    Senior US officials have revealed the contents of a preliminary memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Washington and Tehran to end the 110-day conflict which has cost thousands of lives and devastated the world economy.

    The officials dictated the MOU to journalists on Wednesday, before it was signed by Donald Trump and Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian. Both sides have 60 days to negotiate the terms before a final agreement.

    To start, both the US and Iran, along with their allies, agree to declare an end to military operations on all fronts the moment the document is signed.

    US-Iran deal covers Lebanon, Strait of Hormuz and Iran's uranium

    The presidents of the United States and Iran have officially signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending their war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

    The agreement was due to be signed at an official ceremony in Switzerland on Friday, but the White House and Iranian state media confirmed it had been signed early.

    Earlier today, in a briefing with journalists including from the ABC, a senior US official read out the full text of the 14-point document.

    Japan, Australia sign deal for production of first three frigates

    Australia and Japan have signed a multi-billion-dollar contract for the production of the first three of Australia's new warships.

    The first warship is scheduled for delivery in December 2029 and is expected to enter service in 2030.

    Australia and Japan have announced they've signed a multi-billion-dollar contract for the first three of Australia's next generation of warships at a ceremony aboard a Mogami frigate anchored in Melbourne.

    Defence Minister Richard Marles and his Japanese counterpart, Koizumi Shinjirō, joined top representatives from the massive Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi Heavy Industries aboard JS Kumano to celebrate the agreement.

    Tudor agrees deal to become Spurs' interim boss

    Igor Tudor has agreed a deal to become Tottenham interim head coach until the end of the season.

    Thomas Frank was sacked earlier this week, with Spurs five points above the relegation places.

    Sources told BBC Sport that Spurs wanted an interim manager in place for the players' return to training on Monday.

    Tudor has been out of work since being sacked by Juventus in October 2025 following an eight-match winless run, leaving the club eighth in Serie A.

    The 47-year-old has had a varied managerial career, having had stints at Lazio, Marseille, Galatasaray and Udinese among others.

    BBC Sport understands Tudor's experience of making an immediate impact at previous clubs was a contributing factor to his appointment.

    Talks progressed quickly in the past 24 hours as Spurs accelerated their search following Thomas Frank's sacking on Monday after just eight months in charge.

    Sources have told ESPN that Tottenham looked at a small pool of candidates and identified Tudor as a leading option given his vast head coaching experience, which most recently included a seven-month spell at Juventus.

    NFL inks multiyear deal for more regular-season games in Madrid

    MADRID — The NFL said Monday it will play more regular-season games in Madrid.

    The league announced it has reached a multiyear deal to keep playing at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

    It did not immediately say the length of the new agreement or which teams will play in 2026.

    The first NFL regular-season game in Spain was played at the Bernabeu in November, as the Miami Dolphins defeated the Washington Commanders 16-13 in overtime before a crowd of 78,610.

    It was the seventh — and final — international game of the season, the most ever in one year for the league as it continues to expand globally.

    The NFL has also extended its long-standing broadcast partnership with TelevisaUnivision, an official media partner for the last 60 years, as part of the league's commitment to increasing fan access to live games and NFL programming in Mexico, and to continue to grow the sport's reach nationwide.

    "We are delighted to bring regular‑season NFL games back to Mexico City beginning in 2026, reaffirming our deep and long‑standing connection with fans across the country," said NFL Mexico Director General Arturo Olivé.
