Tennis fans did little to hide their frustration with the French Tennis Federation (FFT) after Alexander Zverev received an "embarrassing" trophy following his heroics at Roland Garros.
On June 7, Zverev ended his agonizing wait for a Grand Slam title upon defeating Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 in the French Open Final. The 29-year-old previously secured runner-up finishes at the 2020 U.S. Open, 2024 French Open, and 2025 Australian Open before emerging victorious on the Philippe-Chatrier court.
Upon returning to Germany this weekend, Zverev was warmly welcomed by the crowd that gathered at the Center Court of the Terra Wortmann Open. As patrons rained down cheers, he proudly held up a comically small Coupe des Mousquetaires trophy.

Zverev’s opponent for that return has now been revealed, with the world No 4 set to take on qualifier Oscar Otte. The match will be played on Tuesday, June 18th.
