Dan Murphy’s owner flags big profit drop as Hrdlicka plots turnaround
Bottle shop and pubs owner Endeavour has flagged a sharp decline in annual profit as chief executive Jayne Hrdlicka’s long-term plan to turn around the struggling company inflicts short-term pain from a jump in writedowns and restructuring costs.
The nation’s largest liquor store operator, which owns the Dan Murphy’s and BWS chains, expects to report net profit of around $52 million for the year to June 28, down from $426 million in the prior year, after disclosing a bigger-than-expected $331 million charge for significant items.
