The aircraft later landed safely, a U.S. defense official told Newsweek, and U.S. officials said there was no immediate indication the incident was linked to hostile action.

    A US military aerial refueling aircraft may have experienced an in-flight emergency over the Arabian Gulf on Tuesday (May 5, 206), based on publicly visible flight tracking data and aviation emergency codes.

    Based on flight tracking data and regional reports, the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, also known as the "flying gas station", reportedly experienced an in-flight emergency over the Arabian Gulf/Strait of Hormuz region.

    Emergency declaration: The aircraft reportedly squawked 7700 (general emergency) before vanishing from radar tracking systems.

    Location: The incident occurred over the Strait of Hormuz, with reports a descent and course change toward Qatar.

    US gas reaches $4.30 per gallon; Trump says prices will drop after Iran war

    Price of petrol in US jumps by nearly 30 cents in one week amid Strait of Hormuz blockade and Iran diplomatic deadlock.

    The average price of one gallon (3.8 litres) of gasoline in the United States has reached $4.30, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA), up from less than $3 before the February 28 start of the US-Israel war on Iran.

    Thursday’s prices come as US President Donald Trump insists that time is on his side in the standoff with Iran, even as he refuses Tehran’s offers of a preliminary deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

    According to AAA, prices for gas or petrol went up by 27 cents over the past week amid the deepening impasse, with Iran blocking the strait and the US imposing a naval siege on Iranian ports.

    Push to tax gas companies 'ripping up our oceans' as Gorgon plan approved

    Natural gas taxes are back in the fray after the expansion of Australia's largest project received environmental approval ahead of Senate inquiry hearings this week which will probe how resources are taxed.

    Australia's offshore petroleum regulator NOPSEMA has approved an environment plan for further development of US-based multinational Chevron's Gorgon project, off Western Australia's north-west coast.

    Chevron is planning to install new wells and pipelines to maintain the Gorgon project's gas production rates of about 15.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) a year.

    Over 30 years this would equate to about 468 million tonnes of LNG.

    The Iran conflict has cemented the shift from concerns about sustainability to security of supply.

    Despite the urging of the global renewables industry and the European Union, most of the world has consistently refused to pay a “green premium” for energy.

    That pricing reality was clear well before the Iran war. But the conflict’s massive disruption to oil and gas markets has abruptly switched the global focus to the prospect of a “security premium” for what were commonly derided as fossil fuels in steady decline.

    FRV crews contain significant chemical leak in Truganina

    At 4.10am, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded to a hazmat incident on Dohertys Road, Truganina, after callers to Triple Zero (000) reported a significant ammonia leak in a food manufacturing facility.

    Firefighters arrived on scene to find a large, ongoing ammonia leak contained to a 50m by 50m plant room.

    Crews worked together to evacuate 200 people from the site. Thankfully, no individuals required medical attention.

    FRV Hazmat operators donned encapsulated suits and entered the impacted room, where they were able to successfully isolate the required valves needed to stop the ammonia leak.

    Firefighters were then able to ventilate the room to make the scene safe.

    An ammonia leak forced the evacuation of about 200 workers from a food processing facility in Truganina early Wednesday. The incident was contained by hazmat crews with no injuries reported.

    Emergency services were called to a food processing facility in Truganina early Wednesday morning following a significant ammonia leak.

    Fire Rescue Victoria crews responded to the incident at a business on Dohertys Road at about 4.10am on Wednesday, 31 December.

    Around 200 workers were evacuated from the site as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

    Firefighters located an unknown quantity of ammonia that had leaked inside a plant room measuring approximately 50 metres by 50 metres.
