Clay, hard & now grass court, Pegula completes Jovic trilogy at Wimbledon

No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula advanced to her second Grand Slam quarterfinal of 2026 and first Wimbledon quarterfinal since 2023 with a win over Iva Jovic. Defeating Jovic on all three surfaces this season, Pegula awaits either Coco Gauff or Belinda Bencic.

WIMBLEDON — No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula is into her second Wimbledon quarterfinal.

Defeating No. 16 seed, Iva Jovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 in all-American fourth rounder, Pegula advances to the elite eight at Wimbledon for the first time since 2023 and her second Grand Slam quarterfinal of 2026. She awaits the winner of No. 7 seed Coco Gauff and No. 11 Belinda Bencic, who will close play on No. 1 Court.

Pegula Powers Into Second Wimbledon Quarterfinal

Wimbledon—Darting right to defend a deep drive, Jessica Pegula pounced and punched a forehand winner down the line.

Even playing off her back foot, Pegula was a forward finisher on No. 1 Court.

In an all-American clash of the current and possibly future U.S. No. 1 players, Pegula defeated Iva Jovic, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to return to the Wimbledon quarterfinals.

The fourth-seeded Pegula advanced to her second Wimbledon quarterfinal—and first since 2023—winning eight of nine sets she’s played this fortnight.

“Really tough match today. Yeah, happy to be through,” Pegula said. “Happy to get through that one. Maybe not fun in the moment winning a three-set match, but I feel when you’re playing a slam, it’sa must to get through those tough ones.

Emma Raducanu buoyant after thumping win over Blinkova at Queen’s

Jack Draper pulls out of men’s event to continue recovery

Emma Raducanu believes her strong start to the grass-court season can be the launchpad for success over the coming month as she reached the second round at Queen’s Club with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Anna Blinkova, a qualifier.

“It was a really good stepping stone, and the way I was feeling on the court, the way I was moving, the way I was expressing myself, just the whole package, not necessarily the tennis, just how I kind of was acting on the court, I really enjoyed it,” Raducanu said. “That’s something that I want to take forward in all of my matches and really embrace this grass-court season.”

Queen's: Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter make winning starts to grass-court season

Emma Raducanu is hopeful her commanding first-round win over Anna Blinkova at Queen's can serve as a "really good stepping stone" for her Wimbledon preparations.

British number one Raducanu was dominant for most of the contest, winning the first eight games without reply before going on to complete a 6-0 6-3 victory over the Russian qualifier.

It was the 23-year-old's first win since 6 March, when she beat qualifier Anastasia Zakharova in the Indian Wells first round.

Raducanu's season has since been disrupted by a post-viral illness that kept her off the WTA Tour for more than two months, and she lost her only two matches on clay on her return – in Strasbourg and at the French Open.
