    Race 17 starting grid: 2026 betr Darwin Triple Crown

    Brodie Kostecki has rebounded from a tough start to Friday to claim his fourth pole position of 2026.

    Kostecki will share the front row with Anton De Pasquale for the opening race of the weekend, which shapes as a big chance for Kostecki and Matt Payne to chip into Broc Feeney's championship lead.

    Feeney, who is 90 points ahead of Payne and 173 points clear of Kostecki, will start back in 13th. Payne qualified third, and will start directly behind Kostecki.

    Race 17 will commence at 5:00pm local/5:30pm AEST. Fox Sports, Kayo Sports, and Sky NZ take live coverage. International fans can watch on SuperView.

    Cam Waters believes things are finally clicking for him after claiming his first Supercars win of the year by clinching the first race of the Darwin Triple Crown.

    After starting fourth in Friday's 35-lap, 100km sprint race, the Tickford Racing Driver won by 0.448 seconds at Hidden Valley Raceway in unusually cool and overcast conditions. 

    Victory ends a long victory drought for Waters, who hadn't won since February 2025 and had only enjoyed two podium finishes this season leading into Friday's race.

    Feeney dethroned in Darwin qualifying shock

    THE king of Darwin has been dethroned, with Broc Feeney bowing out early in a Friday qualifying surprise.

    Feeney had taken the previous four Supercars pole positions at Hidden Valley but was unable to even make it through the first segment today.

    The #88 Red Bull Ampol Mustang was sat 11th on the leaderboard as it approached the chequered flag, and was unable to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

    Teammate Will Brown and Kai Allen did subsequently go faster to push Feeney down to 13th on the grid.

    It leaves the championship leader with a huge mountain to climb if he is to add to his streak of five straight race wins in Darwin.

    The full official starting order for Sunday's 2026 Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka.

    For the second race in succession it’s teenage sensation Kimi Antonelli starting from pole. The Italian youngster dominated team mate George Russell in Qualifying, as Mercedes locked out the front row at Suzuka.

    McLaren’s Oscar Piastri came close to crashing the Silver Arrows' party, with the Australian third on the grid alongside the fast-starting Ferrari of Charles Leclerc. Their respective team mates, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton, start fifth and sixth.

    Start of F1's Japanese GP delayed

    The start of Formula 1’s Japanese Grand Prix has been delayed slightly due to a dramatic accident in a support race.

    Round three of the 2026 season at Suzuka was due to start at 2pm local time on Sunday afternoon.

    The start of the formation lap was delayed by 10 minutes, though, due to ongoing barrier repairs at Turn 12.

    A big crash occurred in the supporting Porsche Carrera Cup Japan when two cars collided through the flat-out right hander before the Spoon Curves towards the end of the middle sector.

    One was fired off to the left through the air and was already rolling when it made contact with the barriers and fence, clearing both. The driver appeared to walk away unharmed.

    Japan Grand Prix LIVE: Piastri’s golden chance to kick-start his season; Mercedes prodigy on pole

    Piastri holds a one-second lead at the moment, however the Ferrari has just been overtaken by George Russell’s Mercedes.

    After weeks of disappointment and repeated DNS’ (Did not start), Piastri has finally kick-started his 2026 campaign.

    That was a fantastic start and he is now leading the Japanese Grand Prix. As we mentioned before, the Ferrari performs brilliantly at the start and Leclerc is in second place.

    We’ve got George Russell in third and Lando Norris in fourth.

    We are racing folks and for the first time this season, 22 cars are actually starting the race. Everyone apart from Valtteri Bottas (on hard tyres) has elected for medium tyres.

    Cuba’s electrical grid collapses amid US oil blockade

    Ten million people left without power in latest of outages that sparked violent protest last weekend

    Cuba’s national electric grid has collapsed, the country’s grid operator has said, leaving approximately 10 million people without power amid a US-imposed oil blockade that has crippled the island’s already obsolete generation system.

    The grid operator, UNE, said on social media on Monday that it was investigating the causes of the blackout, the latest in a series of widespread outages that last for hours or days and that last weekend sparked a rare violent protest in the communist-run country.

    The US has ratcheted up pressure this year on its longtime foe Cuba since capturing the Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro – Cuba’s most important foreign benefactor – in January. The US president, Donald Trump, cut off Venezuelan oil shipments to Cuba and threatened to put tariffs on any country that sold oil to Cuba, strangling the Caribbean island’s already antiquated grid.

    Cuba electric grid collapses amid US oil blockade causing national blackout

    Cuba has not received oil shipments since early January amid US pressure, worsening the humanitarian crisis on the island.

    Cuba’s national power grid has collapsed amid an ongoing United States-imposed oil blockade on the island nation.

    The collapse on Monday left the entire country of about 10 million without power, according to the Union Nacional Electrica de Cuba (UNE). The state-owned company said it was working to restore electricity flows.

    It added that it was investigating what caused the “complete shutdown of the national grid”.

    No oil has been imported to Cuba since January 9 amid the US pressure campaign.

    Following the US military abduction of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, the government of Venezuela’s interim leader Delcy Rodriguez agreed to stifle oil shipments to Cuba.
