It was about 9am when the news broke that a significant rapprochement had finally been reached: Prince Harry, once referred to as the royal family’s “wayward son”, had accepted an invitation to stay with his relatives at Buckingham Palace during his visit to the UK this week.

After years of bad blood, marked by allegations that brother had briefed the press against brother, it appeared to mark the beginning of a new era of relative peace among the royals.

The illusion lasted only about 15 minutes. The bombshell that shattered it was the announcement that the palace had, regardless of what the Duke of Sussex’s spokesperson said, told him he would not be welcome there after all.

The duke was said to have been excited for Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, to be reunited with King Charles during the visit early next month.

Harry reconsidering taking Meghan and children on UK trip

The Duke of Sussex is reconsidering plans to bring his wife and children to the UK next month after his request for police protection was rejected, the BBC understands.

Prince Harry, his wife Meghan and his two children, Archie and Lilibet, were due to make a family visit to the UK for the first time in four years.

His team had put in a formal request for police security while in the UK but it is understood they were told on Friday that no taxpayer funded security would be provided.

Sources say that Prince Harry is distraught about the decision, made just days before the family is due to arrive, but he would still like to find a way to make the trip work.

EFL star called up to World Cup squad despite playing just two games since 2024

The towering Leicester City centre-back sustained the horrific injury in December 2024 while on loan at Sheffield United.

He did not play a single minute of senior football in 2025 and only made his return to action in the Foxes' 1-1 draw against Millwall on April 24, where he scored a late header.

Souttar retained his place in Leicester's starting line-up for their season-ending fixture against Blackburn Rovers, which they won 1-0.

Following the end of the 2025/26 season, Souttar linked up with the Socceroos for their pre-World Cup camp in Florida in a bid to prove his fitness to coach Tony Popovic.

Souttar then played the full 90 minutes for Australia in a friendly against Mexico on May 31, which ended in a 1-0 loss at the Rose Bowl.

Invictus Games flag voyage reaches halfway point

Spirit of Falmouth and Pellew are halfway through the 2,000 nautical mile (3,700km) challenge

Wounded veterans and serving personnel have reached the halfway point of their maritime journey to carry the Invictus Games Flag around the UK.

The two tall ships, Spirit of Falmouth and Pellew, have arrived in Wick, Scotland, after sailing 1,000 nautical miles (1,850km) over 48 days.

The ships set sail from Falmouth for the 12-week Full Circle expedition, co-ordinated by the charity Turn to Starboard in partnership with Invictus Games Birmingham 2027.

Falmouth Royal Navy veteran Will Keating said after the deaths of a close friend while deployed and his foster son, the trip had given him the "space to pause and properly confront things I've carried for years".

“Dance No More” appears on Styles’ latest album Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. Earlier this year, the musician performed the song during his double-duty stint on Saturday Night Live. It was an unexpected choice given the previous release of singles “Aperture” and “American Girls.” But “Dance No More” perhaps best captures the beating heart of the album.
