Why High Potential Isn't Airing New Episodes On ABC For A While, And When It'll Return

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission.

It feels like High Potential fans were just clamoring for the show’s return due to its extended midseason break, and we’re already going back into that mindset so soon into the 2026 TV schedule. Kaitlin Olson’s brainy LAPD consultant Morgan sadly won’t be foiling any clever criminals’ plots this week, and we’ll indeed be waiting a bit longer than one might expect before we see her, Karadec and the rest of the squad back in action.

We last saw High Potential’s two leads playing up their “Will they?, Won’t they?” potential work romance, with Karadec looking very longingly at his partner, despite already having what should be a rekindled romance with Susan Kelechi Watson’s Lucia. So I can only hope that other viewers are happy to continue theorizing about where things will go next, since it’ll be a couple of ticks before we see them again.

Alex de Minaur and Maya Joint are locked in as Australia’s two seeded players for the 2026 Australian Open.

Monday’s weekly release of the ATP and WTA rankings means the top 32 seeds are locked in for the season’s first grand slam. The seeded players are placed throughout the draw and cannot face each other until at least the third round.

Australia's little-known number one woman tennis player firing in Adelaide – News

After an epic first round win from Thanasi Kokkinakis at the Adelaide International late last night, the top ranked Australian woman aims to emulate his deeds today. Richard Evans speaks exclusively to Maya Joint for InDaily.

It would not have been a great surprise had 19-year-old Maya Joint been something of a rabbit in the spotlight when she turned out for a press conference at Memorial Drive on Sunday afternoon.

Just two days before, the newly crowned – yet almost wholly anonymous – Australian number one female player had been trounced 6-1, 6-1 by Iga Swiatek in front of 10,000 fans and the national TV cameras at Ken Rosewall Arena in Sydney.

Maya Joint will be seeded either 31st or 32nd at this year's Australian Open.

She will be the first women's seed in the home grand slam since Ash Barty.

Joint will face Iga Swiatek in a crucial United Cup tie in Sydney on Friday.

Australian tennis's next generation has officially arrived, with teenage ace Maya Joint sealing her place as the first home women's seed at Melbourne Park since retired great Ash Barty.

Joint will be the Australian Open's 31st or 32nd seed after defeats for two of her chasing rivals on Thursday left it mathematically impossible for the 19-year-old to drop out of the world's top 32 before next week's draw.

The Bureau of Meteorology says there is a high chance the tropical low off the Coral Coast could become a tropical cyclone from tomorrow.

Locally intense rainfall and damaging winds are forecast for parts of the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Herbert and Lower Burdekin and Central Coast and Whitsundays.

The BOM will continue to monitor the system and issue further warnings if the low develops into a tropical cyclone.

A category one cyclone is now highly likely to form off the coast of north Queensland this weekend and cross the coast late tomorrow or on Sunday.

“It sounds completely absurd,” grazier Angus Propsting says. “But they are actually perishing because they are not drinking, even though they are surrounded by water.”

Some of the famished cattle look upon grass tens of metres from where they perch.

A former High Court justice previously tapped by Labor to probe Scott Morrison’s multiple ministries is in the frame to lead the widely expected federal royal commission into the Bondi killings.

The potential appointment of Virginia Bell has been flagged by senior Labor figures in recent days and has already prompted pushback from some Jewish leaders in NSW, Bell’s home state, over their belief she might be too left-leaning, a claim the government and Bell’s backers in the legal fraternity will challenge.

The private worry expressed by Jewish leaders has complicated the choice for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as he and his ministers work out details of a national probe he has resisted for weeks.

A royal commission into New Zealand's worst mass shooting could provide a blueprint for a federal inquiry into the Bondi massacre, legal experts say.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has softened his position on setting up a royal commission into the December 14 terrorist attack, where 15 people were killed and more than 40 injured, after previously rejecting calls for such an inquiry.

Jessie Buckley may need to hire a carpenter for the silverware-cabinet she is expected to need for her hugely admired performance in the film based on the Maggie O’Farrell novel. She plays Anne (or Agnes) Hathaway, wife of William Shakespeare, grieving the terrible loss of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet, in 1596, which the story imagines to be a spur to the creation of Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. Film lookahead: 20 highlights to watch out for in 2026

The last time we had an epic Christopher Nolan release, in 2023, Oppenheimer – together with Barbie – gave cinema a huge audience boost. Could Nolan's The Odyssey, along with one or two other 2026 releases, produce a similar result?

The industry is hopeful that a number of highly anticipated projects – like Tom Holland's fourth Spider-Man movie, the second Super Mario Brothers film, and The Devil Wears Prada 2 – could lead to a box office bonanza. Not to mention Avengers: Doomsday and the third Dune movie.

Together with Oscar hopefuls like Hamnet, 2026 looks to be a potentially huge year for an industry still feeling the after-effects of the Covid lockdown. Here are 20 films to watch out for in 2026.

Leonard went 17-of-26 from the floor, including 5-of-10 from 3-point range, and made 16 of 17 free throws, with his only blemish of the game a missed free throw in the third quarter that ended his run of 64 straight from the line, all this month. He scored 26 of his points in the third quarter.

Nicolas Batum scored 12 points, while Leonard added 11 rebounds and five steals for Los Angeles, which lost 10 of 11 games before its four-game run.

Kawhi Leonard goes off for 55 points on Detroit Pistons

INGLEWOOD, CA — The Detroit Pistons had no answer for Kawhi Leonard, and dropped their second straight game on their West Coast road trip.

The Pistons fell to the Los Angeles Clippers, 112-99, at the Intuit Dome two nights after falling to the Utah Jazz on Friday. Leonard scored a career-high 55 points on Sunday, Dec. 29, after scoring 51 through the first three quarters. They trailed the Clippers by 26 points early in the fourth quarter before a late run trimmed the final deficit.

It was a poor night on both ends for the Pistons (24-8), who shot just 7-for-29 (24.1%) from 3. Cade Cunningham led them with 27 points and nine assists, and Jalen Duren had a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Newspaper headlines: 'High welfare, high tax' and 'Budget goes as billed'

"Chancellor wallops workers", declares the Sun, while the Times opts for "high welfare, high tax", as the front pages deliver their verdicts on the Budget. Contained in what the Daily Telegraph describes as a "red box of broken promises", the paper says Rachel Reeves delivered a £30bn package of tax increases "largely targeting the middle classes". The Daily Mail is damning, accusing her of "spiteful raids on strivers – to lavish billions on benefits street".

The Guardian quotes the chancellor's words at the despatch box: "I am asking everyone to make a contribution" in its headline. The Daily Mirror's assessment is that it was a Budget "with a Labour heart", praising the decision to end what it calls the "cruel" two-child benefit cap. The i Paper and the Financial Times are among the front pages to highlight one of the risks of Ms Reeves' plan, with both quoting analysis from the Institute for Fiscal Studies that she has opted for a "spend now, pay later" approach.

JP Morgan points to ‘The UK government’s priority of economic growth’ as it announces plans for new Canary Wharf HQ

Good morning, and welcome to our rolling coverage of business, the financial markets and the world economy.

It’s the morning after the budget, a time when the real story behind the fiscal event often emerges.

And today, the Resolution Foundation is warning that the job of repairing the UK’s public finance is “far from complete”, and that major tax rises and cuts to public services are coming down the line.

The think tank has issued its overnight analysis of Rachel Reeves’s budget, which shows that pre-election austerity and tax rises are both pencilled in.

UK government unveils budget aimed at stabilising economy

Britain's Chancellor Rachel Reeves has handed down a high-stakes national budget overnight, which the government hopes will boost economic growth, reduce child poverty and ease cost-of-living pressures.

Ms Reeves is under pressure from within her own party and from the business sector after weeks of government leaks, policy backflips and internal disputes over welfare and income tax.

Analysts warn the budget may not be enough to restore confidence, with fears that sluggish growth and rising debt could undermine the government's plan.

Welcome back to your weekly federal politics update, where Courtney Gould gets you up to speed on the happenings from Parliament House.

As parliament wound up for the year, Labor joked two ghosts of Christmas past stalked the hallways.

The first, Malcolm Turnbull, was back for the unveiling of his prime ministerial portrait. The second, was Turnbull's former deputy prime minister, Barnaby Joyce, who confirmed his exit from the Nationals.

It's been more than seven years since Turnbull last addressed a crowd at Parliament House, on his final day as prime minister.

For a moment, just a moment, it looked as if Anthony Albanese could break down in tears. On the final parliamentary sitting day of a long election year, the prime minister was speaking at the unveiling of Malcolm Turnbull’s official prime ministerial portrait.

Albanese wanted the crowd to know something about Malcolm the man, not just the politician.

“On a very personal level, there was a moment, nothing to do with politics, where Malcolm and [wife] Lucy, to me, showed their character, where they reached out to me at a difficult time in my personal life, and just had me to dinner,” Albanese said. “No one knows about it.”
