Five quick hits: Snicko chaos, catching controversy and a Bazball bust-up

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer share a robust conversation, Snicko is decried as "the worst ever" after yet more mix ups, and another catching controversy.

Here are the quick hits from day two of the third Ashes Test.

The player of the series so far, Mitchell Starc, came out swinging on day two, smashing five boundaries in the first three overs of the day on the way to his second 50 of the series.

Don’t complain…: Stokes and Archer in heated Ashes clash

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer have buried the hatchet after their day two clash with a touching gesture from the latter showing all is fine between the two stars after their stunning partnership breathed life back into the third Test.

After their 106-run partnership ended when Stokes (83) was knocked over by a peach from Mitchell Starc, Archer ran almost all the way to the boundary rope to give his frustrated skipper a pat on the back to acknowledge a job well done.

The pair showed the sort of guts and determination England have been lacking so far in the series with their stand helping reduce Australia’s first innings lead to 85 when it appeared as if the Test could effectively be over on the second evening.

Melbourne Victory coach Arthur Diles insists he's unfazed by speculation over his future, and says two huge games against fierce rivals are the perfect chance to turn the tide.

Last-placed Victory and Diles are under the pump amid a four-game winless and goalless run, and just one win from their opening seven matches.

That pressure will only intensify if Victory don't get a result against Adelaide on Saturday night at AAMI Park ahead of next week's A-League Men derby against Melbourne City.

Mitchell Starc becomes only the 2nd player in WTC history to reach 'this' milestone

On Saturday, December 6, Day 3 of the Day-Night Brisbane Test got underway with Australia's tail-enders dominating the first session. The morning belonged to Mitchell Starc as the southpaw frustrated the visitors with his batting prowess.

The left-arm seamer, who has already wreaked havoc with the ball, is also making noise with the bat and slammed his 12th Test fifty. The 35-year-old slammed nine boundaries to bring up this special feat.

Further, Starc also entered the record books as the red-ball talisman joined his teammate Pat Cummins to become the second player in World Test Championship (WTC) history to take 200+ wickets and 1000+ runs.
