Fly lure: How many big fish can the Pies land this trade period?

Collingwood are preparing to try to prove doomsayers wrong who predict their ageing list will soon drop off a cliff, with an aggressive off-season designed to make another flag push with this group.

The Magpies receive regular criticism about their lack of top-line youth, in large part owing to them picking higher than 17th just once in the past seven drafts – when they matched Gold Coast’s bid on Nick Daicos at No.4 in 2021.

Recruiting manager Shane O’Bree unearthed a promising player in his first draft last year in Sam Swadling, who is averaging 15 disposals and has kicked a goal in five of his six AFL games since being the No.37 selection last year. Their winning team against West Coast was their least-experienced side since Ed Allan – who received a contract offer last week – made his debut in round 11, 2024.

Pies make bold play for Port superstar with club-record offer

The Magpies have tabled a club-record offer for Power star Zak Butters

COLLINGWOOD has made a bold financial play for Port Adelaide free agent Zak Butters, tabling a club-record deal for the superstar midfielder.

The Magpies have long been keen on Butters and met with him earlier this season, using their champion Nick Daicos in their pitch.

They were seen to be further back in the pack of Victorian clubs chasing Butters, with Geelong, the Western Bulldogs and Richmond all desperate to land the 25-year-old as he gets set to depart Alberton Oval at the end of this season and return to Victoria.

How you can see the International Space Station from Perth

Perth stargazers are in for a treat on Tuesday evening when the International Space Station appears in the WA sky.

The space station will be visible for about eight minutes from 6.40pm as it travels south-east, according to astronomy experts in Perth.

For novice space fans, there’s no need to stress about securing any special equipment to view the phenomenon — the station will be visible to the naked eye.

‘That Astronomy Guy’ Matt Woods says the space craft will look like a shooting star in the sky but will be almost as bright as Venus .

“It’ll start out as a bright, steadily moving dot in the sky, then grow brighter and brighter as it crosses overhead,” he told PerthNow about the sighting.

NASA has contracted a purpose-built spacecraft to push the International Space Station out of orbit in late 2030, steering the 430-tonne structure towards the remote South Pacific near Point Nemo, where passing astronauts can briefly be the nearest humans

NASA's deorbit vehicle will turn the ISS from a continuously inhabited place back into an object, then guide its controlled breakup over the remote South Pacific.

There is an uncomfortable practical question inside every permanent-looking human project: who turns off the lights? For the International Space Station, the answer is now being built.

NASA has contracted SpaceX to develop a U.S. Deorbit Vehicle, a heavily modified Cargo Dragon that will eventually dock with the station and supply the final push that takes it out of orbit. The current plan is for a controlled re-entry in late 2030, after the final crew has departed.

How to Ignite an Internet Frenzy? Give Alexander Skarsgard a Wicker Penis

The newly released trailer for 'Wicker,' also starring Olivia Colman, has caused quite a stir among women on social media.

Audiences got their first look at Alexander Skarsgård playing a man crafted from wicker, and it’s safe to say the internet instantly lost its mind.

Black Bear’s Wicker, based on author Ursula Wills-Jones’s short story, The Wicker Husband, follows a fisherwoman (Olivia Colman) who commissions the local basketmaker (Peter Dinklage) to weave her a husband (Skarsgård). However, when the quiet village realizes he’s the man of any woman’s dreams, his presence sparks jealousy and chaos.

The premise of Wicker sounds like it was hallucinated by a TJ Maxx home-goods addict who spends too much time binging AO3. Adapted by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson from a short story by Ursula Wills-Jones, the upcoming fantasy-comedy film follows a spinster fisherwoman (Olivia Colman) who, fed up with being ostracized for her singleness, commissions a local basketmaker (Peter Dinklage) to weave her a husband.

Three venues in five hours: How the royals spent a day at the Commonwealth Games

Glasgow: They arrived at Australia’s netball semi-final against Jamaica with little fanfare.

But the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their three children George, Charlotte and Louis ended Saturday, local time, having squeezed more Commonwealth Games action – and at more venues – in a single day than probably any spectator over the past 10 days.

In fact, so much did they pack in to such a small amount of time that it would not surprise to discover they’d used the same Tardis that King Charles and Queen Camilla stepped out of at the Games’ opening ceremony.

Though probably not by design, there was a distinct Australian flavour to the royals’ whirlwind visit to Glasgow.

William and Kate bring children to Commonwealth Games netball and cycling events

The Prince and Princess of Wales have brought their three children to watch some of the final sporting events at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Cheering crowds at the city's OVO Hydro were treated to exhilarating performances in the netball semi-finals where the family watched New Zealand's 61-54 win over England.

Known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay while in Scotland, the couple also spent time meeting athletes, staff and volunteers during a slightly blustery visit to the venue on the River Clyde.

They then made their way to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome – where they chatted to British cyclist Dame Laura Kenny and sat one row behind another Olympic cycling champion, Sir Chris.

The work has ramped up ahead of tomorrow's huge pre-season clash with Tottenham.

It was another busy session down under with the Blues' full focus on making it back-to-back wins to start our pre-season campaign. To do that, Chelsea have to beat old rivals Spurs as, for the first time ever, we do battle outside of London. The Accor Stadium in Sydney is the impressive venue.

The gyms and training pitches were alight with activity as Levi Colwill, Romeo Lavia, Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Estevao Willian were among the Blues continuing their work ahead of Saturday evening in Australia.

How a 'Critta' and a 'chook' put the bark back in the Dogs

Headless chook or cut snake is how Bulldogs teammates refer to their halfback Lachie Glavin, but as long as he keeps that kind of energy Canterbury has a firm shot at the NRL finals.

Galvin has been part of all six wins from their last eight games, while five-eighth Stephen Crichton has been his halves partner in three of them.

Sean O’Sullivan combined with Galvin well in the 32-0 win over Wests Tigers and branded the young No.7 a superb rising talent even though he “runs around like a headless chook”.

“He runs around like a cut snake – he’s young and full of energy. Somethings that might go unnoticed are his organisation and leadership,” Tracey said.

Dogs coach defiant as Crichton, Galvin reunite

Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo says he’s not worried about Stephen Crichton and Lachlan Galvin teaming up in the halves, despite the club finding success last week with Sean O’Sullivan stepping into the role.

Three different halves pairings have been fielded by Ciraldo over the course of this season as he looks to find the winning formula for his team.

Crichton and Galvin have seemingly got the nod to stick to that role for the time being.

Matt Burton held onto the No.6 jersey at the start of the season before being switched to the centres – a role he has played at club and representative level – while Crichton moved into the halves in round 16 against Manly.

'Doesn't make sense': NRL fans left fuming after Bulldogs star dropped

Bulldogs fans are questioning the club's decision to dump Sean O'Sullivan back to the bench to accommodate the return of Stephen Crichton. On Tuesday, coach Cameron Ciraldo named Crichton at five-eighth to partner halfback Lachie Galvin for the Bulldogs' clash with the Warriors on Saturday.

O'Sullivan has been demoted to the bench despite performing well in the 32-0 victory over the Wests Tigers last weekend. O'Sullivan proved to be just what the doctor ordered amid a need for the Bulldogs to pick an organising half to allow Galvin to run.

England's Charley Hull will begin her latest attempt to win her first major title when she tees off in a prestigous grouping in the 50th Women's Open Championship on Thursday morning.

Hull's compatriot Lottie Woad will play with Andrea Lee from America and Japan's Akie Iwai in the opening two rounds at at Royal Lytham & St Anne's, with the group starting at 08:31 on Thursday.

Here’s the record prize money payout for each player at the 2026 AIG Women’s British Open

The AIG Women’s British Open announced back in April that it had increased its total prize purse for the sixth consecutive year, moving it up to a record $10 million.

The winner on Sunday at Royal Lytham & St. Annes will earn $1.5 million, the highest amount in the 50-year history of the Women’s British Open. The R&A and AIG partnership began back in 2019.

Last year at Royal Porthcawl, then LPGA rookie Miyu Yamashita from Japan, earned $1,462,500. Yamashita collected her first LPGA title and major by shooting 68-65-74-70 for an 11-under-par 277 total. Minami Katsu and Charley Hull tied for second place, two shots back. Lottie Woad tied for eighth place, the same spot as Spanish amateur Paula Martin Sampedro, who shot a final-round 68 to earn the Smyth Salver as the low amateur.

'I don't really want to be famous': How Osaka has stayed grounded through career

WASHINGTON — When Naomi Osaka won the 2018 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, she felt nothing could top it.

The 6-3, 6-2 March 2018 win over Daria Kasatkina marked the then 20-year-old Osaka's first career WTA Tour Driven by Mercedes-Benz title and was a breakthrough win that put her name on notice.

"When I won Indian Wells, I for sure thought 'Wow, life can't get any crazier than this' because my mom was working all the time, and I rarely saw her, and she was able to retire because of that," Osaka said during her media day Sunday at the Mubadala DC Open. "I felt like that was peak.
