Airbus pushing to increase monthly A320neo production rate sooner than later

Aug.  19, 2026, © Leeham News: Airbus’ backlog for the A320neo family shows why the company is adamant about increasing production to 75 aircraft per month. It has already sold out at this rate through 2032.

If Airbus doesn’t increase production by the end of 2027, as planned, it will be oversold as early as next year—meaning aircraft delivery commitments would exceed its production capacity to deliver them. What does the airframer do in this event?

Airbus Shares Edge Down as A320 Output Targets Demand 48% H2 Delivery Jump

Shares in Airbus SE EPA:AIR ended Wednesday down 0.8% at €208.05, as the market weighed the company’s push to ramp up A320-family output. The production goal is considered challenging, requiring Airbus to increase its delivery rate by roughly 48% in the second half to meet its annual targets.

Interest in the search term “airbus a320 family” is linked to a previously announced ramp-up in production. Airbus continues to maintain its formal objective of producing 70 to 75 A320-family jets each month by end-2027. The main benchmark for investors is the difference between today’s delivery numbers and that future goal. Airbus H1 results

Japan will quintuple entry visa fees starting from July 1, but most Australian tourists will not be impacted.

Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Toshimitsu Motegi said the change was done to bring the fees, set in 1978, in line with inflation and changing exchange rates.

"There could be possibility for various impacts but bearing that in mind we made the revision," Mr Motegi said.

The single entry visa fee will rise from roughly $26.50 or 3,000 yen to $132 (15,000 yen) and the multiple entry visa will rise from approximately $53 to $265.

Japan’s visa fee jump to hit Chinese tourists hard, straining tense ties

Beyond the fivefold visa fee spike, flight shortages and soaring airfares expected to deter price-sensitive Chinese travellers, analysts say

For the first time since 1978, the Japanese government has decided to raise visa fees. The cost of a single-entry visa will increase from 3,000 yen (US$18.54) to 15,000 yen, while multiple-entry visas will jump from 6,000 yen to 30,000 yen.

The new policy, which will come into effect on July 1, has been widely seen as Tokyo’s response to inflation and the yen’s depreciation. The change will bring Japan’s visa fees closer to the levels of its developed counterparts, including those in Europe.

Japan visa fees quintuple in first increase since 1978

Japan has implemented a five-fold increase to visa fees for all foreigners, marking the first price hike in nearly 50 years.

From 1 July, single-entry visa fees will be raised from the current 3,000 yen ($18.69; £14) to 15,000 yen, while multi-entry visas will now cost 30,000 yen, up from 6,000 yen.

The visa fee revisions – the first since 1978 – were made to "reflect inflation and exchange rate fluctuations", Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi told reporters on Friday.

"We do not anticipate that it will have an immediate impact on inbound tourism," he added.

The Japanese yen has been weakening continually since 2021, and is now hovering near historic 40-year lows.
