Cavs vs. Wizards: preview, odds, injury report, TV

CLEVELAND, Ohio — After a five-day pause, the Cavs take on the Wizards on Friday night, and the timing couldn’t be more critical. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Eastern.

The break offered rest, recovery and recalibration, but it also serves as a subtle test: how will this team respond coming out of a lull? Can they hit the ground running, or will they slip into the familiar pattern of relying on talent over tenacity?

The Wizards present the ideal return to the court. Injuries and inconsistency have left them vulnerable, and on paper, they shouldn’t be able to keep pace with Cleveland’s core of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland and Evan Mobley.

Full injury report for Joel Embiid, Sixers vs. Bucks on the road

The Philadelphia 76ers will take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday on the second night of a back-to-back looking to pick up a third straight win. They will enter the Fiserv Forum on the heels of a wild win over the Golden State Warriors on Thursday thanks to the heroics of VJ Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey.

As the Sixers prepare for the Bucks, the injury report is light. Kelly Oubre Jr. (left knee sprain) and Trendon Watford (left adductor strain) remain sidelined, but Oubre spoke on Thursday and gave an update on his recovery. The 11-year forward out of Kansas is inching closer towards a return.

76ers vs. Bucks Prediction, Odds and Best NBA Prop Bets for Friday, Dec. 5

The Philadelphia 76ers escaped with a last-second win over the Golden State Warriors on Thursday at home and are now in Milwaukee to take on the Bucks tonight.

The Bucks are coming off a win of their own, upsetting the Pistons 113-109 at home on Wednesday night for their second win in their last three games following a long losing streak.

The oddsmakers have the Bucks as slight home underdogs at the best betting sites on Friday night.

Let’s take a look at the odds, players to watch and my prediction for Friday night’s NBA matchup.

VJ Edgecombe is looking like a player in Philadelphia. The 76ers’ third overall pick has at least 15 points plus assists in all but four of his 18 games this season.

The big man was sidelined on Wednesday due to an ankle injury, but he may be available to make his return to the lineup on Sunday and is officially questionable to play right now. His return would mean less work for Clint Capela moving forward.

    Injury Update: Nic Martin

Nic Martin had successful knee surgery yesterday after consultation with his surgeon this week.

Martin suffered a setback after a minor training incident a couple of weeks ago. Follow-up scans confirmed damage to the recently reconstructed knee.

After consulting the surgeon and the Club’s high-performance and medical team, Martin elected to have surgery to give himself the strongest long-term outcome.

“It’s obviously a setback, but I have complete confidence in our medical and high-performance team and our long-term plan for me,” Martin said.

“I’m feeling good post-surgery and I’m ready to take the time to build my knee back up and I know I’m in the best hands possible, and I’ll attack this rehab with everything I’ve got to come back stronger.”

Bomber blow as gun ruled out for 2026 after further knee surgery

ESSENDON gun Nic Martin will miss the 2026 season after undergoing further surgery on his knee following a training accident.

Martin was hurt at training earlier this month and, after scans confirmed damage to his recently reconstructed knee, underwent further surgery on Thursday.

The 24-year-old, who had been impressing in his recovery from the initial surgery, will take a long-term focus in a bid to be ready for day one of pre-season ahead of the 2027 campaign.

"It's obviously a setback, but I have complete confidence in our medical and high performance team and our long-term plan for me," Martin said.

"I'm feeling good post-surgery and I'm ready to take the time to build my knee back up and I know I'm in the best hands possible, and I'll attack this rehab with everything I've got to come back stronger."

Essendon injury crisis deepens as star to miss entire 2026 season

Essendon Bombers midfielder Nic Martin will miss the full 2026 season after undergoing a follow-up surgery on his knee on Thursday.

Martin was set to miss most of next year after tearing his ACL in Round 18 against Richmond, but an innocuous slip at training earlier in November sparked fresh concerns for his recently reconstructed knee.

The 24-year-old then underwent scans, which confirmed damage to the knee.

It's devastating timing for Martin, who had been "impressing in his recovery" from the major setback, but will now have to wait until 2027 to take to the football field again competitively.

However, the young star remained optimistic despite the brutal blow, confident the Bombers medical and high performance team can get him back to his 2024 best, where he averaged 28.3 disposals per game.

Jock Landale injury update: Memphis Grizzlies center leaves game vs Mavs

Memphis Grizzlies center Jock Landale will not return against the Dallas Mavericks due to neck soreness, the team announced.

Landale left the game on Nov. 22 at American Airlines Center in the first quarter after experiencing pain in his neck. He went to the locker room and was ruled out during halftime.

Without Landale, the Grizzlies have just one center available. They already are without Jaren Jackson Jr. and Brandon Clarke. Those two would be next in line at center. The Grizzlies had waived PJ Hall to make room for Jahmai Mashack because of the lack of depth at point guard.

Home » Trending » Memphis Grizzlies injury update: Jock Landale leaves game vs Mavs

In a significant setback for the Memphis Grizzlies, center Jock Landale has been ruled out for the remainder of the game against the Dallas Mavericks due to neck soreness, the team confirmed. Landale, who exited early in the first quarter, reported discomfort that led him to seek medical attention in the locker room. By halftime, it was clear he would not be returning to the court.

With Landale sidelined, the Grizzlies face a challenging situation as they currently have only one center available for play. This comes at a time when the team is already grappling with the absence of key players Jaren Jackson Jr. and Brandon Clarke, both of whom would ordinarily serve as primary options at the center position.

Stuart Broad is an effective agent provocateur because he jabs at real sore points. Broad launched the phoney Ashes war last month when he said this was England’s best Ashes team since it trampled all over Australia in 2010-11 and Australia’s worst since then. It’s true that the runes read so surprisingly well for England that even Josh Hazlewood was moved to pay a compliment to their batting, and ominously poorly for a conspicuously unsettled Australia.

Ashes grudges die hard, but genuine hatred would kill sport’s oldest rivalry

Usman Khawaja's graceful acceptance of a possible reprieve for one of the Lord's members who abused him and the rest of the Australian team in the Long Room two years ago brought some welcome perspective to the pre-Ashes silly season.

England's cricket contest against Australia may be the oldest grudge match in world sport, but its longevity is as much about the preservation of respect between players and supporters from both nations as it is about the sparks that fly from time to time.

Key questions ahead of blockbuster Ashes

THE KEY ISSUES AND TALKING POINTS AHEAD OF THE 2025-26 ASHES IN AUSTRALIA

Since Brendon McCullum took over as coach in 2022, England's win rate away from home is 50 per cent (8-8). The only time 'Bazball' faced a fellow Test powerhouse on the road, they were smoked 4-1 by India in early 2024. England will start the Ashes having played just one warm-up game, against their second XI, in Australia. But a key attribute of 'Bazball' is being positive so they won't lack confidence in believing they can be the England team to break a 14-year Test wins drought in Australia.

Already the second-highest run-scorer in Test history behind only Sachin Tendulkar, Joe Root's place among the greats is secure. But the black mark against his name is never having posted a century in Australia in 14 matches. His average here of 35.68 sits well below his career figure of 51.29. If England are to have any chance of reclaiming the Ashes in Australia, Root is going to need to make multiple tons.

Toronto Raptors Injury Report: Know latest update on Ochai Agbaji and others

As the Toronto Raptors gear up for another demanding Eastern Conference battle, all eyes are on the team’s injury list ahead of their matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night. With both franchises pushing for early-season momentum, Toronto’s availability concerns could shape the dynamic of the game.

The Raptors enter Monday’s contest with an impressive 8-5 record, fresh off a confident road win against the Indiana Pacers. RJ Barrett powered Toronto in that victory, finishing with 22 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Jakob Poeltl also delivered a strong performance, adding 22 points and nine rebounds as the Raptors continued to showcase their improved offensive balance.

Battle is still dealing with a knee injury of some kind and is set to be sidelined for a second game because of it on Saturday. Fantasy managers should expect Collin Murray-Boyles to see slightly more work while Battle is out of the team's lineup.

Raptors’ Battle, Agbaji questionable vs. Hornets, Lawson available

As the Toronto Raptors return from a five-game road trip to host the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night, they’ll have to navigate some lingering injuries. Depth wings Jamison Battle and Ochai Agbaji enter the day questionable, per the NBA’s injury report, after the pair were sidelined against the Indiana Pacers over the weekend. Battle is dealing with a right-knee contusion, an injury that flared up on Saturday morning, but was considered “minor,” according to Sportsnet’s Michael Grange. Agbaji has been out for three consecutive games before Monday, dealing with a back strain. Meanwhile, two-way players Alijah Martin and Chucky Hepburn…
