Introducing a New Label for AI-Generated Artist Identities on Spotify
True artist-fan connection can only be built on a foundation of trust and authenticity. In music, that means listeners need to be able to trust that the artist behind the music is who they say they are. That’s more essential than ever in the age of generative AI.
So this year, we’ve made Artist Identity & Trust one of our very top priorities with the launch of Verified by Spotify, SongDNA, AI Credits, and Artist Profile Protection. Today, we’re announcing another step in our effort to ensure Spotify is the most transparent and trustworthy place to listen to music.

Music streaming platform Spotify will label artificial intelligence-generated artists and remove them from its curated playlists.
From mid-September, the platform's users will begin to see the AI Persona badge on accounts which do not represent a real artist, and music from those artists will be removed from "any editorial or algorithmic recommendations".
Spotify said users may still see AI Persona artists in their own personal recommendations if they already follow artists in the category on the platform.

Spotify to introduce AI badge after fans make feelings 'clear'
Spotify is introducing a new feature that will highlight if an artist has been generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
The streaming service says the AI Persona badge, which will start appearing on some profiles from mid-September, will flag to listeners if an "artist's identity may be AI-generated and does not represent a real person".
The changes are being introduced to give users "more transparency" about what they're hearing, Spotify says.
It comes after some music fans made it "clear" to the streamer they don't like seeing a profile that seems to be a human, to then realise it's AI-generated.
AI-generated music has long been a concern for fans and artists.
