iPhone Duo is the first iPhone that will offer support for Apple Pencil, letting you jot handwritten notes, doodles, and more.

Apple Pencil will be supported on iPhone Duo later this year via a software update. But when support comes, Apple says it will require an Apple Pencil (USB-C). No other Pencil models are compatible.

iPhone Duo will let you use Apple Pencil both on its outer and inner displays. The design of Apple’s first foldable was even inspired by the proportions of a standard A-series paper notebook.

iPhone 18 Pro adds a new camera, faster chip, better battery life, and more storage. Here’s whether those upgrades are enough to leave the 17 Pro behind.

A year after the iPhone 17 Pro arrived, Apple is asking buyers to spend more for another round of upgrades. The iPhone 18 Pro brings a new A20 Pro chip, a variable-aperture camera, faster charging, slightly longer battery life, a smaller Dynamic Island, and up to 2TB of storage.

A20 Pro speed and efficiency improvements leaked? Not so fast…

You may have seen several news stories out there referencing this Fixed Focus Digital rumor on Weibo, claiming that it shows the speed and power efficiency improvements of Apple’s A20 chip coming to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra next month.

It’s important to note what is going on here, because this is not a leak about A20 improvements; it’s about the new manufacturing process from TSMC that the A20 is suspected of using. And even then, it’s not saying what most reports think it’s saying.

Yes, Apple is expected to be the first large-scale customer to use TSMC’s new 2nm process that uses a new “gate all-around” or GAA manufacturing technique. We said as much in our A20 preview earlier this year.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro Release Date: Discounted Day Re-Enters The September Schedule

The Apple iPhone 18 Pro, alongside the 18 Pro Max and the company’s first foldable iPhone, possibly called the iPhone Ultra, are all about to be announced in an event in September, it seems. A new report has now claimed a different date for the keynote which I think is wrong. Here’s when it will really be, along with every other part of the schedule — down to the minute.

This date is the one that is most crucial: once it’s confirmed, every other part of the release schedule slides effortlessly into place.

I’ve been banging on for ages about when I think the keynote will be (read this for details of every part of the release schedule), but a new report from the Australian site Channel News claims to have exclusive information.

What's Coming in September: New iPhones, Apple Watches and More

Apple will introduce at least five new devices at its iPhone-centric event next month, and it's also possible we'll get devices waiting on Siri AI like the Apple TV.

The iPhone 18 Pro is going to look like the iPhone 17 Pro, but with a smaller Dynamic Island. It's getting some internal updates, including a new Wide camera with a variable aperture for more control over lighting and a faster A20 Pro chip built on a new 2nm process. Battery life could improve with the updated chip and an upgraded LTPO+ OLED display, plus Apple could include a more efficient C2 modem and N2 networking chip. Dark Cherry is supposed to be this year's special color, and there will also be a light blue color.

Apple May Delay the iPhone 18 Until 2027 as Premium Models Get Fall Launch

Apple may delay the standard iPhone 18 until early 2027 while launching Pro models this fall, marking a major change to its release schedule.

Apple may be about to break one of its longest-running iPhone launch habits.

The company’s supplier Pegatron recently teased a major schedule change for a key smartphone client. As reported by Economic Daily News and MacRumors, Apple plans to stick to a September launch for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, but will hold off on releasing the base iPhone 18 until Q1 2027.

iPhone 18 Pro Release Date: Demand Drives September Launch

Apple is set to launch the iPhone 18 Pro in early September, a strategic timing dictated by multiple operational necessities. This annual autumn release allows manufacturing partners like TSMC to efficiently allocate custom silicon production for high-volume runs. It also enables Apple to secure crucial freight capacity before the holiday season, optimizing fourth-quarter revenues. The September window aligns perfectly with annual carrier upgrade cycles, prompting consumers to renew contracts and consider new iPhones. It synchronizes with Apple's broader ecosystem, including iOS updates and companion hardware including the Apple Watch. Deviating from this established cadence would disrupt supply chains, increase shipping costs, and destabilize carrier and subscription renewal cycles.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro Release Date September Signaled In Keynote Update

Anticipation is building for Apple's next major event, where the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to be unveiled. Analysts predict the keynote will take place on Wednesday, September 9. Apple consistently holds its iPhone announcements in the first half of September, always avoiding the day after Labor Day. With Labor Day falling on September 7 this year, September 9 is considered the most likely date for the reveal. The official announcement confirming this special event is typically made two weeks in advance, suggesting Wednesday, August 26, as the probable date. Following the keynote, the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models are projected to hit stores on Friday, September 18, with a potential foldable iPhone also making an appearance.

The latest iPhone 18 news, leaks, and rumors: Release date, price increases, and color options

Release date: We're expecting the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to arrive in fall 2026, but rumor has it the iPhone 18 may not arrive until early 2027.

Colors: Possible leaks point to four main color options this year for the Pro models: light blue, silver, dark gray, and dark cherry.

Key upgrades: Besides iOS 27 and the Siri AI beta, we're expecting bigger batteries, camera improvements (including variable aperture for the main camera), and possibly a smaller Dynamic Island.

Pricing: Most new phones are arriving with price increases, and we think a starting price increase is very likely for the new iPhone 18 lineup, sadly.

Apple Rewind: Price upgrade for iPhone, Apple sues OpenAI, and new updates for iOS

The month of July was packed with iPhone rumors, iOS updates, news about smart glasses, and fears of an anticipated price hike.

We're back with another issue of our "Apple Rewind" monthly roundup series on Apple Inc., talking about new launches, speculations, and cool rumors you are waiting to hear. In July, we had a platter of rumors about the iPhone price hike, upcoming features, a foldable iPhone, an OLED iPad mini, and the fate of the iPhone Air.

You can check out our previous issues of the 'Apple Rewind' monthly roundup.

The main camera on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to get an upgrade: variable aperture support. While it echoes previous rumors, the said feature could drive the prices up. It was reported that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature a Sony IMX905 sensor in its main camera. The feature is “backed by a calibration block that reads actuator data tied to the aperture mechanism from the sensor's non-volatile memory.”

iPhone 18 Release Date: Spring Delay Boosts Autumn iPhone 18 Pro Sales

Apple is strategically delaying the entry-level iPhone 18 until Spring 2027, while launching the higher-margin iPhone 18 Pro models in September 2026. This move aims to boost average selling prices and revenue during the crucial holiday sales quarter. Consumers seeking an upgrade this autumn will face a choice: pay an estimated $200 premium for the Pro model or retain their older device. The iPhone 18 Pro will also be the exclusive gateway to the full suite of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features, as iOS 27's advanced capabilities require 12GB of RAM. This strategy eliminates mid-tier options for holiday shoppers, potentially devaluing the iPhone 17 quickly once AI becomes standard. Apple is effectively pushing Pro models as the new default, navigating a challenging smartphone market.

iPhone 18 Pro: Three reasons you might want to upgrade from iPhone 17 Pro

iPhone 18 Pro is just a couple months away, and while most iPhone 17 Pro owners won’t upgrade so soon, for those considering a new iPhone there are three main features likely to motivate them.

Better battery life is often at the top of iPhone users’ feature wishlists. Who doesn’t want an iPhone that lasts longer between charges?

Last year’s iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max brought big improvements in this area, but rumors indicate Apple will push battery life even further this year.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to benefit from efficiency gains in multiple areas: an LTPO+ display, 2nm process for the A20 Pro chip, and possibly an Apple-designed C2 cellular modem.

Economic and Technological Challenges in Manufacturing the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max: How They Differ from the iPhone 17 Pro Models

The production of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max faces significant technological and economic obstacles. Transitioning to next-generation hardware has forced Apple and its partners to overcome several critical hurdles that go well beyond incremental upgrades.

These challenges stand in clear contrast to the more mature 3 nm-based platform of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, which launched in September 2025 with the A19 Pro chip, aluminum unibody construction, and vapor-chamber cooling.

The primary engineering difficulty centers on mastering TSMC’s new 2 nm (N2) process node, which uses gate-all-around (GAA) transistors and advanced wafer-level multi-chip module (WMCM) packaging.

iPhone 18 Pro Release Date: Apple’s 15-Year Event Timeline Signals Exact Date

Apple is poised to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro at its annual September special event, a tradition upheld consistently since 2012. Analysis of past keynote dates reveals a strict window between September 7th and 14th, with exceptions only for 2020 due to COVID, and never on September 11th. A crucial factor is Labor Day, the first Monday of September; Apple never schedules events before it or on the immediate Tuesday following. Based on Labor Day falling on September 7th this year, mirroring 2015, the article confidently predicts the keynote will occur on Wednesday, September 9th. This precise scheduling suggests the iPhone 18 Pro will then be released to the public on Friday, September 18th.

Exclusive: Diagnostics log confirms iPhone 18 Pro Max camera specs ahead of launch

A diagnostics log, part of the trove of internal Tata Electronics files leaked online in June by the ransomware group World Leaks, adds new confirmation to a camera sensor swap on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, which was reported by us on July 2. The log confirms variable aperture support on the new main sensor through a calibration block, and details the rest of the camera array.

The log confirms a new main sensor, a Sony IMX905, replacing the sensor used in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Pixel size is unchanged at 1.22μm, suggesting the upgrade is centered on the variable aperture addition rather than sensor size. The log confirms variable aperture support on this sensor, backed by a calibration block that reads actuator data tied to the aperture mechanism from the sensor's non-volatile memory. Variable aperture is already available on flagship phones from other phone manufacturers, so the feature would mark a first for iPhone rather than the industry.
