Joe Coyd on being Wheels of Steel, Ashes heroics and World Cup prospects

ON Friday, 30th October 2026, for the first time ever, the England men’s, women’s and wheelchair sides all play at the same arena in World Cup matches.

That’s the date when the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup launches at WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong with Ireland v USA kicking things off at 1pm local time, 11 hours ahead of the UK.

The whole of the Wheelchair World Cup is at the same arena, and straight after this opener, England kick off their defence when they take on Wales (kick-off 3.30pm).

All of this happens behind the goal at WIN Stadium, the beautiful outdoor arena, where England face Samoa in their final Women’s World Cup group stage match at 5.50pm before England v Papua New Guinea men conclude the day at 8.05pm.

Why England should be the priority for 2026 – clubs should recognise that

Rugby League World Cup should be at the top of everything

You know, 12 months when the England side – sorry, Wales, Scotland and Ireland but you are not there – should be the priority.

But in fact when there is not even a training session in the calendar ahead of flying to Australia.

An early decision is likely to decide whether there should be a change of coach.

However, Shaun Wane’s job prospects should not be the first thing to consider – a new attitude to Test rugby should be.

Five bold predictions for the 2026 Super League season

JUST round the corner lies the 2026 Super League season and predictions are already coming in thick and fast.

But, what five bold predictions can we make for this year’s campaign?

It’s the first time that Adrian Lam and Leigh Leopards will be going into a new season without a double-figure turnover in terms of players. The fact that the Leopards finished third in 2025 after trying to move on from as many as 13 departures shows just how good of a coach Lam is – and sends a message to the rest of Super League that Leigh are here to stay in the play-offs. The Leopards have been building nicely in recent seasons and 2026 could see them secure another record finish on the ladder. With Hull KR’s attention focused on the World Club Challenge and Las Vegas at the start of the campaign, it paves the way for the Leopards to swoop.

Joe Keery Almost Chose "Leroy Merlin" as His Stage Name

Leroy Merlin is the name of a French-headquartered home improvement and gardening retailer

Joe Keery wears many different hats and is also known by many different names — Steve "The Hair" Harrington on Stranger Things, Djo (pronounced like "D-joe" and many other variations) and, correctly, Djo (pronounced like "Joe"). In a new clip shared on Twitter X, the former Exclaim! cover star revealed that he considered a different stage name for his music career that may have caused even more mix-ups than what he is currently known as.

Keery shared, "When I came home I was like, I got a great name — Leroy Merlin was the name I thought would be really cool. But then remembered, I must have seen it and copied it because I think it's like the Home Depot of Europe."

The finale of Stranger Things 5 has propelled Joe Keery's song "End Of Beginning," which went viral, back onto the music charts; fans are expressing their affection for Steve Harrington.

Joe Keery Embraces New Beginnings After Stranger Things

The lights are dimming in Hawkins, Indiana, but for Joe Keery, they’re just beginning to shine somewhere new. As Stranger Things launches its fifth and final season in three parts starting November 26, 2025, the actor and musician behind Steve Harrington is stepping into a future that’s as unpredictable as it is promising. For nearly a decade, Keery has been a fixture in the pop culture landscape, evolving from a small-town Massachusetts kid to a Netflix icon, and now, to a chart-topping musician and sought-after actor with a fearless appetite for reinvention.

Joe Keery’s journey began far from Hollywood, attending River Valley Charter School and Newburyport High School before studying theater at DePaul University in Chicago. It was there, in the city’s vibrant indie scene, that he first cut his teeth in music with the psychedelic rock band Post Animal. But acting was always in the cards. According to Fanbolt, when Keery auditioned for Stranger Things in late 2015, he originally aimed for the role of Jonathan Byers. Instead, he landed Steve Harrington—a character initially written as a disposable jock, meant to meet an early demise in Season 1. The Duffer Brothers, however, saw something special in Keery’s performance: a warmth and vulnerability that prompted them to rewrite Steve’s fate. By Season 2, Steve was not only alive but had become a series regular, his arc shifting from high school bully to protective, bat-wielding babysitter—a transformation that cemented his place as one of the show’s emotional anchors.

Newsweek reached out to Fuentes for comment via a message on X.

Fuentes, a well-known figure on the right, has drawn scrutiny from across the political spectrum over his comments about race, such as his recent remarks calling Vice President JD Vance a "race traitor" for being married to Usha Vance, the daughter of two Indian immigrants. The Southern Poverty Law Center describes him as a "white nationalist livestreamer" and an "outspoken admirer of fascists."

Joe Root lashed out after Pat Cummins dismissed him once again. Here's the 13 times it's happened

When Andrew McDonald announced Pat Cummins wouldn't be involved in The Ashes again this series, part of Joe Root must have breathed a sigh of relief.

On day four of the third Test, Cummins proved once again he has the star batter's measure, kissing the edge of his bat to dismiss him for the 13th time.

Australia’s captain, the ultimate flat-wicket operator, roared into the third Ashes Test like he had never been away

On a redundancy scale, attending the Adelaide Test and noting that Pat Cummins was good is in the realm of noting that the Torrens was wet or the cathedral was spiky. Still, on day four, any one of those obvious things might justifiably have caught an observer’s eye.

Perhaps it’s more notable just how natural, how inevitable, it felt that Cummins was indeed bowling at his best in his first match back after a stress fracture cost him the first two Tests of this Ashes series and any match preparation before that.

How 'inspirational' Cummins ended his 158-day layoff

A fast-tracked and carefully-managed recovery from a bone stress injury looks to have been timed to precision

Pat Cummins zips one past Zak Crawley and there's hardly a murmur. No, the heat has not yet sizzled the Adelaide Oval crowd; until Cummins reaches his arms out wide and carries on his follow-through all the way to Alex Carey, it is not clear that Australia's skipper has, in fact, just dismissed Crawley.

The wider angle, the extra bounce, the sliver of nip away, a shave of the right-hander's outside edge. Pat Cummins, who has not bowled a ball in a game for 158 days, is back with the type of perfect dismissal only Pat Cummins could pull off.
