    Federal lawsuit aims to stop UFC event on the White House South Lawn

    A lawsuit filed Saturday against the federal government asks a judge to stop an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on the White House lawn scheduled this week.

    The suit, which the Public Integrity Project, a watchdog group, filed on behalf of two plaintiffs, is another incident in which private citizens or activist groups have tried to stymie projects championed by President Donald Trump.

    The event, a fight night purportedly in honor of the country’s 250th anniversary, is scheduled for June 14, Trump’s birthday.

    The lawsuit says UFC CEO Dana White, a longtime Trump ally who was a campaign surrogate for him, has denied that the event’s timing is a birthday celebration for Trump. But, the suit says, White acknowledged that the fight was Trump’s idea.

    The plaintiffs said they brought the case to “uphold the rule of law” and “protect our nation’s most cherished monuments from corrupt exploitation.”

    A new lawsuit seeks to halt the “UFC Freedom 250” event that is scheduled for this coming weekend, calling it “deeply corrupt” and arguing that it runs afoul of federal regulations.

    The plaintiffs are activist Susan Douglas and Vietnam War veteran Paul Romano. Represented by lawyers with the Public Integrity Project, they said in their complaint that they brought the case “to seek judicial relief for their injuries, uphold the rule of law, and protect our nation’s most cherished monuments from corrupt exploitation.”

    Lawsuit aims to stop UFC fight at the White House

    Two Virginia residents have filed a lawsuit seeking to stop the UFC fight President Donald Trump is holding at the White House as part of celebrations for the nation’s 250th birthday.

    The lawsuit, filed Saturday by the Public Integrity Project on behalf of a Vietnam War veteran and a civic activist, argues the structure erected on the White House grounds is not authorized without congressional approval or environmental review.

    It also argues the use of the White House grounds “to stage a private, for-profit sports event, with all the promotional and branding opportunities that accompany such access” will financially benefit UFC President Dana White and Trump himself, citing a report in the spring that Trump bought $50,000 in stock in UFC’s parent company.

    Former employees with Guzman Y Gomez launched a class action lawsuit after the Mexican food chain shuttered all eight of its U.S. locations. The restaurants were all located in the Chicago metro area.

    The suit, filed with Chicago firm Haseeb Legal, claims the chain closed the restaurants without the 60 day notice required by federal and Illinois law.

    The chain announced the closures to the public on its website and social media, saying the move was effective May 22.

    American workers at Guzman y Gomez’s shuttered US stores have launched a class action lawsuit against the Mexican-themed Australian fast food chain over allegations staff were terminated without adequate pay or notice.

    The legal claim, filed in a US federal trial court in Illinois, was sparked by GyG’s decision last week to immediately close its string of Chicago stores after giving up on its highly vaunted plans to expand in the US.

    Workers say they first heard about the imminent closures on 21 May via an internal message posted on the company’s message platform, according to the lawsuit filed by Chicago firm Haseeb Legal.

    Melania Trump has won the dismissal of a lawsuit brought by author Michael Wolff designed to head off a billion-dollar defamation action brought by the first lady over statements he made in the media.

    The US district judge Mary Kay Vyskocil said that Wolff’s claim against Trump under anti-Slapp statutes, which are designed to allow defendants to quickly dismiss meritless, intimidating lawsuits, was “preemptive” and presented in a “somewhat contorted posture”.

    In a 45-page ruling, Vyskocil said the “plaintiff asks for a declaration that, if the first lady sues him, he deserves to win. That is not how the federal courts work.”

    Author Michael Wolff is not going down without a fight in his legal feud with Melania Trump.

    The longtime Donald Trump biographer is unfazed by a federal judge’s decision to toss his so-called anti-SLAPP suit against the first lady, vowing in a Saturday taping of Inside Trump’s Head podcast to continue challenging Melania in the courts.

    “We knew from the beginning when we drew a Trump judge in federal court, in the Southern District in New York, that that was problematic,” Wolff told co-host Joanna Coles. “I think our attitude was, ‘OK, you know, that’s the hand we drew.’”

    Judge throws out author Michael Wolff’s lawsuit against Melania Trump

    BREAKING: At least 2 people shot near the White House, officials say

    A judge threw out author Michael Wolff’s lawsuit against first lady Melania Trump on Friday, ruling that his “contorted” attempt to prevent her from suing him for $1 billion over his statements about her and Jeffrey Epstein “is not how the federal courts work.”

    Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil in federal court in Manhattan chided Wolff for an “inappropriate level of tactical gamesmanship” and said she “will not be conscripted to oversee an abusively presented spat.”

    Vyskocil, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, agreed that Wolff and the first lady “have a real dispute,” but said “they must litigate it according to the same procedures as everyone else.”

    British Film Company Asks to Be Removed as Defendant From Rebel Wilson Countersuit

    A British film production company is asking a judge to remove them as a defendant in a countersuit brought by Rebel Wilson against three producers of the film “The Deb” who are suing the Australian actress for defamation.

    In court papers filed Friday with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Thomas D. Long in advance of a June 4, 2026, hearing, attorneys for AI Film Production Ltd. contend that the company is based in the United Kingdom and has no ties to California. Therefore, they say, service should be quashed for lack of personal jurisdiction. Wilson accuses AI Film of breach of contract.
