    A commercial plane travelling from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to Israel has been forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, after an apparent brawl between its pilots prompted distress signals that briefly raised fears of an attempted hijacking. The flydubai flight was over Jordan when it diverted to Saudi Arabia, transmitting three emergency signals, one of which indicated a possible unlawful interference.

    The plane dipped dramatically during the reported fight, descending about 16,000ft in just two minutes. Israeli officials scrambled fighter jets, fearful of a possible hijacking attempt on a plane containing dozens of Israelis, and the plane landed at Tabuk airport in north-western Saudi Arabia.

    A pilot on an Israel-bound Flydubai flight stabbed another pilot and "apparently tried to crash the plane", Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said.

    The plane was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv when it plummeted 17,000ft (5,200m) in less than two minutes, before being diverted to Saudi Arabia.

    Eyewitnesses inside the plane described the moment the incident happened, with one man calling for help in a video shared on social media.

    Live – Over 70 people injured in southern Israel following Iran missile barrage

    At least forty people have been injured in the city of Arad in southern Israel following the latest Iranian missile attacks, the Magen David Adom said. Thirty others were also injured in an earlier attack on Dimona.
