    'Remembers his foundations': DCE ready for full-circle moment

    Bob Jones doesn't remember the first time he met Daly Cherry-Evans. 

    The son of hooker Troy Evans and nephew of Dolphins legends Cam and Steve Cherry, a young Cherry-Evans was always just there.

    Whether it was in the locker room after a game or hanging around training during the week, the youngster was a fixture at the club's Redcliffe base during his early years.

    "I remember him as a young fella following his dad around," Jones, a club legend and the current Dolphins chairman, said. 

    "I knew the family very well. The Cherry family had been involved with the club since before my time. Daly's grandfather was a very good player, his uncles were pretty fair players for the club and his cousins were also good players.

    Sixteen years after making his NRL debut, Daly Cherry-Evans is staring down a farewell few could have scripted.

    The 37-year-old is one win away from taking the Sydney Roosters to their first grand final since 2019.

    Two decades after coaching DCE, Woolf out to end his NRL career

    One of Daly Cherry-Evans’ first representative coaches 20 years ago will be the same man looking to end his long NRL journey on Friday night.

    It’s a little known story about Cherry-Evans’ 16-year career in the top flight and how Kristian Woolf, then working in pathways at the North Queensland Cowboys, picked him in an under-16s representative team.

    The Cowboys squad was made up of players from Townsville, Cairns and Mackay, where Cherry-Evans was residing, along with former premiership winner Ben Barba.

    The team was meant to inspire kids in the region to get excited about the chance to wear the Cowboys’ colours.

    You have just days to watch Tom Hanks' "superb and witty" '90s classic as it leaves UK streamer

    Forrest Gump, the “superb and witty” 1990s classic starring Tom Hanks, is leaving a UK streamer very soon. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film stars Hanks in the titular role as an innocent-natured man as he navigates some major events in US history.

    Joining Hanks on the cast is Sally Field, who plays his loving mother Mrs Gump, and Robin Wright, who stars as Forrest's childhood love interest Jenny.

    First released in 1994, the logline of the film reads: "A gentle, friendly man navigates a series of extraordinary events, all while inspiring those around him with his perpetual optimism."

    Forrest Gump is set to leave Netflix on 4 January, meaning fans of the film with a subscription to the streaming service have just days left to watch.
