Brisbane forward nominates preferred new home amid three-club chase: AFL trade news
Brisbane forward Will McLachlan has nominated Melbourne as his preferred landing spot in this year's AFL Trade Period.
McLachlan has been canvassing his options after playing just one game for Brisbane this year, stuck behind Kai Lohmann, Cam Rayner, Zac Bailey, Charlie Cameron and a three-pronged tall forward line.
Out-of-contract, he also met Essendon, but has chosen the Dees after kicking 35 goals in 11 VFL games this year, according to AFL Media.
A Geelong Falcons graduate, he was selected in the 2024 Mid-Season Rookie Draft and played six games last year.
Melbourne is also expected to land 2023 first-round draft pick Zane Duursma from North Melbourne, with Roos list boss Brady Rawlings revealing on Trade Radio on Wednesday that there is little hope he will change his mind to re-sign at Arden St.
