Pakistan has beaten England by one wicket after an 89-run last-wicket stand, the largest ever 10th-wicket partnership to win an ODI.

Shadab Khan smashed 113 off 96 balls, but was saved by a speculative review when given out LBW with Pakistan still 21 runs in arrears.

England is all but out of the tri-series tournament after three defeats, with its fate confirmed if Sri Lanka beats Pakistan on Tuesday.

Shadab Khan hit an epic ODI century, and England suffered a second extraordinary defeat in as many games as Pakistan snatched a one-wicket victory on Sunday to secure its place in the cricket tri-series final.

Pakistan's Shadab stuns England in last-wicket heist

Shadab Khan thought he was plumb LBW on 97 but an unexpected reprieve by DRS sparked a remarable turnaround to condemn England

England have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory again to leave their tri-series final hopes hanging by a thread as Shadab Khan's heroics rescued a stunning one-wicket win for Pakistan.

After Sri Lanka chased 430 to win in Rawalpindi, England's bowlers were on course to bounce back in Lahore on Sunday when they reduced Pakistan to 9-154 in pursuit of 242 – but Shadab had other ideas.

With just No.11 Haris Rauf for company, allrounder Shadab showed the urgency lacking from his top-order colleagues to register a maiden international hundred and get Pakistan home with 17 balls to spare.

Konstas cracks second ton in four days to lead Blues' one-day win

NSW right-hander made 149 off 131 balls to lead their 78-run One-Day Cup victory over WA in Perth

Sam Konstas has struck his second century in the space of a week to send national selectors yet another reminder he is ready for a Test recall.

Just days after posting scores of 71 and 151 not out in NSW's Sheffield Shield draw with WA, Konstas cracked 149 off 131 balls on Saturday to lead his side to a 78-run victory over in the One-Day Cup at the WACA Ground.

NSW posted 8-371 on the back of the monster knock from Konstas combined with handy contributions from Josh Philippe (51), Jack Edwards (45) and Lachlan Shaw (44).

‘It’s time’: Call for Australia to take bold selection ‘risk’… but Travis Head isn’t so sure

It is a measure of the strength of Australia’s Test team that the next most likely men into the XI are in their 30s according to Travis Head.

As former Victorian and New South Wales coach Greg Shipperd said Sam Konstas had mounted a strong case to reclaim his spot in the Test team, Head said history suggested that the older a newcomer is, the stronger the Australian team is.

And while the Australians were thrashed in the second Test of the series against South Africa in Gqeberha, Head is adamant the current team is a strong one, pointing the fact the Aussies remain the top-ranked Test team in the world.

Second Test live updates: Aussies facing embarrassing follow-on after horror session

Steve Smith receives a clap from his teammates and the fans as he moves to 11,000 career runs in Test cricket.

He’ll want a lot more than that this afternoon to help Australia.

Beau Webster can’t make the most of his life and he’s out of there.

There’s been some really irrational shots from Australia today and this is another one.

Jansen put the ball outside off stump and Webster threw his hands at the ball with Aiden Markram taking a great slips catch.

Webster goes for 12. Any danger of some sensible batting? Feels like Australia has watched Renshaw last match and decided that’s not the recipe for success.

Steve Smith passes 11,000 Test runs, the 12th player to do so and the third Australian after Allan Border and Ricky Ponting.

Smith is on 28 not out from 84 balls so far today and each one of those runs has been hard-earned.

Webster is gone properly now, he nicked a rising ball from Jansen and it was caught at slip.

Aiden Markram took an excellent catch, the Proteas haven’t dropped their chances today.

It may have nicked but not dislodged the bail, either way, it didn’t hit his bat.

Australia's batting is back under the microscope after Marnus Labuschagne's latest disappointment headlined a collapse to 6-69 at lunch on day four in Gqeberha.

Labuschagne was out for 14 on Wednesday morning, with Marco Jansen's four wickets blowing the door wide open for the Proteas after their first-innings 9(dec)-425.

South Africa can now eye off bowling Australia out for 225 or less to set up a follow on, and pursue victory at St George's Park to level the series at 1-1 with a Test to play.

Ukraine strikes Yandex data centre in third attack on Russian tech giant

Yandex has been forced to pause its operations at a data centre near Moscow after the facility was damaged in a Ukrainian drone strike – the third attack on the Russian tech giant's sites this week.

The company – dubbed "Russia's Google" – said no one was injured at the centre in Vladimir, east of the capital, but some of its services were unavailable to users.

Earlier this week, Yandex said it was struggling to maintain its services after two of its five data centres were hit in Ukrainian strikes.

Both Russia and Ukraine have stepped up attacks on infrastructure in recent months as the war between them continues in its fifth year following Russia's full-scale invasion.

Australia is becoming a second-rate country again

Bigger government, higher taxes, more expensive energy, more regulated workplaces and closing off natural growth options will make Australia second-rate again.

Critics of this week’s Intergenerational Report queried its assumption that artificial intelligence would rescue Australia from its decade-long productivity drought.

But even this hopeful assumption would leave a sub-par future that Treasury and the government of the day seem satisfied to bequeath to the next generation.

It is difficult enough to predict what will happen next month, let alone 40 years from now.

Regardless, for the past quarter of a century, Australian governments have sought to project where the nation is heading and predict the challenges and opportunities that may present themselves every five or so years.

They're rarely correct. But that's hardly the point. In many ways, it is just as instructive to figure out why previous forecasts missed the mark, delivering valuable insights into how best to approach the future.

This latest report, the seventh since 2002, has arrived at a seminal moment in history.

NC State’s unfathomable last-second blunder gifts Vanderbilt miracle win

NC State quarterback CJ Bailey fumbled in the end zone while trying to run out the clock or potentially take a safety in the final seconds and handed Vanderbilt a 35-31 victory no one saw coming in Nashville.

It was as improbable a finish as the Music City Miracle, the famous last-second kickoff return in January 2000 that gave the NFL’s Tennessee Titans a 22–16 playoff win over the Buffalo Bills.

Bailey and the Wolfpack (1-2) were attempting to milk the clock on the final snap, a fourth-and-3 play from their five-yard line with six seconds remaining.

Miles Capers knocked the ball out of Bailey’s hands, and Cayden Van Daniels recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown. It capped Vanderbilt’s rally from a 17-0 deficit in the first half.

Continuing his top form from the first match when he scored 167 in the first innings to set up a big win, Padikkal made 117 off 193 deliveries, spending nearly five hours at the crease and hitting 12 boundaries.

Dodgers, Yankees open second half in potential postseason preview

NEW YORK – Even as Cody Bellinger savored one of the most memorable evenings of his career, having been named the Most Valuable Player of this year’s All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park, the Yankees slugger practically heard a clock ticking.

“Enjoy today, then it’s time to get ready for the Dodgers,” Bellinger said in Philadelphia.

No one on either side needs a reminder about what happened the last time the Dodgers and Yankees met in the Bronx. This will be their first time squaring off at Yankee Stadium since the final game of the 2024 World Series; the clubs met at Dodger Stadium last year, with Los Angeles winning two of three.

Where to watch Miami Marlins vs Milwaukee Brewers: TV channel, start time, streaming for July 17

It's the home stretch of the 2026 MLB season with teams jockeying for playoff position in hopes for lengthy postseason runs.

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani continues his quest for an NL MVP three-peat, but sluggers Juan Soto and James Wood are also compiling impressive campaigns.

The Dodgers once again look like the team to beat in the National League, having already amassed a double-digit games lead in the NL West. Meanwhile, the American League features astonishing parity; just one-third of the league had a winning record coming out of the All-Star Break, and no team had a division lead greater than three games.

Zverev earns second shot at Roland-Garros title as Italian scores free pass to final

Germany’s perennial tennis bridesmaid Alexander Zverev will get another shot at a maiden grand slam title in this year’s Roland-Garros final.

The world No.3 – the only top-five player in the men’s or women’s draw to reach the semi-finals – progressed to his fourth major final, and second in Paris, with a 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Czechia’s marathon man Jakub Mensik across three-plus hours.

Zverev will face 10th seed Flavio Cobolli in the final after fellow Italian Matteo Arnaldi withdrew before their semi-final with a viral illness. It will be Cobolli’s first grand slam final.

‘I almost cried’: Virus ruins grand slam dream as shock withdrawal decides French Open final

Alexander Zverev moved to the verge of a long-awaited first Grand Slam title as the second seed saw off Jakub Mensik in four sets on Friday to set up a French Open final against Flavio Cobolli.

The German will face 10th-seed Cobolli on Sunday after securing a 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Mensik.

Cobolli did not even have to play his first Grand Slam semi-final, as his last-four opponent and fellow Italian Matteo Arnaldi withdrew from the tournament shortly before the match due to illness.
