A senior executive at Andrew Forrest's Fortescue Metals Group has been sacked following an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and bullying at the iron ore miner.

The executive, who was not named by Fortescue in its short statement about the matter, "breached Fortescue’s policies, as well as our values", it said.

Fortescue had engaged law firm MinterEllison to examine a series of allegations about the employee's conduct.

"Sexual harassment, bullying, and other behaviour that makes people feel unsafe has no place at Fortescue," the company said.

Fortescue fires top executive after harassment, bullying investigation

Fortescue has sacked one of its senior executives after an independent investigation into accusations of sexual harassment and bullying found the individual’s actions were in breach of the company’s policies and values.

The sacking of the executive, who The Australian Financial Review has chosen not to name for legal reasons, came after a months-long investigation by law firm MinterEllison.

Another former senior coach opts out of Essendon process

Former Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin has opted out of the Essendon process following a conversation with Bombers president Andrew Welsh, after Chris Scott endorsed Nathan Buckley’s return to coaching while taking a veiled swipe at James Hird.

Goodwin’s decision to remain an assistant coach with Sydney instead of pursuing the Essendon coaching job follows the news that Buckley had politely declined the opportunity to be a candidate to replace Brad Scott at Tullamarine.

Hird’s campaign to be Essendon’s coach again is building momentum.

Former Collingwood coach Buckley, whose team was seconds away from a premiership in 2018, has publicly declared his desire to be Tasmania’s inaugural coach on several occasions.

Buckley declines to join Essendon’s coach selection process; ‘Wizard’ will miss again as Hawks face Blues

Peter RyanNathan Buckley has declined an offer from the Bombers to be part of their process to select a new coach as CEO Tim Roberts contacts the management of potential candidates for the vacant job.

The Geelong assistant and former Magpies coach is deep into the selection process to become the first coach of the Tasmania Devils, having caught up with incoming club’s selection panel last week.

The 53-year-old wants to focus on his roles at the Cats and with Fox Footy while going through the Devils’ process without stretching himself too thin.

Competition sources, who did not want to speak publicly, said Buckley was understood to be very respectful in declining the opportunity to have a coffee catch-up with the Bombers when it arose last week. Essendon are looking for a coach to replace Brad Scott, who was sacked in May.

It’s time for BHP to decide whether it’s in or out of Queensland

The miner has spent four years stewing over the state’s decision to raise coal royalty rates. With a new CEO about to arrive, it’s time to like it or leave it.

As of the end of 2024, China's population aged 60 and above reached 310.31 million, roughly 22 percent of the total, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

In an interview with CGTN's Health Talk, Carl Wu, co-founder and CEO of New Frontier Group, and the CEO of United Family Healthcare, expressed his views on the future of China's growing senior population.

He believes "aging at home" should be a viable solution in China. New tech, such as sensors and wearables, can provide doctors with the data needed to offer remote and personalized healthcare. Also, home modifications, such as setting up handrails and adjustable beds, can enhance independence for the elderly.

As more of China becomes ‘moderately aged’, how will its economy change?

Much of China has passed a key demographic threshold as the population ages, making adaptations necessary for policymakers and businesses

Early in the morning in cities across China, groups of people gather in public squares, moving as one in slow, deliberate tai chi routines. Many are in their sixties or seventies – an age group that has long defined the rhythm of daily life in much of the country.

As of last year, 20 of the country’s more than 30 provincial-level regions had entered what demographers call a “moderately-aged society”, where at least 14 per cent of residents are aged 65 or above, or one-fifth are over 60.
