    CBA shares up after bank reports increased profits

    Commonwealth Bank's net profit for the first half of the financial year has risen 5 per cent to $5.367 billion on the back of increased lending and deposit volumes.

    Shareholders will receive an interim dividend of $2.35 per share, fully franked — up 4 per cent from a year ago.

    Meta shares jump 10% on stronger-than-expected revenue forecast

    Meta reported fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday that topped estimates and issued stronger-than-expected sales guidance. The stock popped as much as 10% in after-hours trading.

    Here's how the company did, compared with estimates from analysts polled by LSEG:

    Meta said it expects first-quarter sales to come in the range of $53.5 billion to $56.5 billion, ahead of analyst estimates of $51.41 billion.

    Finance chief Susan Li said that forecast was "really underpinned by the strong demand that we saw through the end of Q4 and continuing into the start of 2026."

    The company said fourth-quarter sales rose 24% year-over-year. The company said its advertising business generated revenue of $58.1 billion for the period. Advertising made up nearly 97% of the company's overall revenue for the quarter.

    Meta stock climbs on Q4 earnings beat, plans to spend as much as $135 billion on AI build-out in 2026

    Meta (META) announced its fourth quarter earnings on Wednesday, topping analysts' expectations on the top and bottom lines.

    The company also provided its 2026 capital expenditures guidance, saying it anticipates spending between $115 billion and $135 billion in 2026, up from the $72.22 billion the company spent in 2025.

    In Q4, Meta reported earnings per share (EPS) of $8.88 on revenue of $59.9 billion, ahead of the $8.16 and $58.4 billion analysts were expecting based on Bloomberg analyst consensus estimates.

    Meta’s Reality Labs division brought in $955 million versus an anticipated $959 million. But the company also booked losses related to the segment of $6 billion. Analysts were expecting an operating loss of $5.9 billion.

    A short video posted by the outlet appears to show Bryan carrying Leonard, both wearing sunglasses, to a convertible decked with “Just Married” bunting and the happy couple driving away. A rep for the artist did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

    Kelly Oubre Jr. and Trendon Watford participated in practice at FedEx Forum as part of their reintegration into team activities. While the Sixers were on the court, the league announced that Tyrese Maxey was second in the Eastern Conference and fourth overall in the initial fan voting returns for the NBA All-Star Game.

    “I appreciate it,” Maxey said of the fans’ recognition. “Hopefully, it kind of shows us how we started out the season, winning some games. I don’t know what seed we are at right now, but trending in the right direction. We are in a little skid now. But at the beginning of the season, we did a good job of winning games. I think that’s a testimony to that.”

    "There's a word that I use in my household because it's something that I didn't really hear enough of when I was a kid," he shared on the Dec. 16 episode of Mythical Kitchen, "and that's 'proud.'"

    Macaulay Culkin revealed ONE word he uses frequently at home

    Macaulay Culkin opened up about fatherhood and the lessons he is carrying forward from his own childhood.

    The Home Alone alum says there is one word he makes sure to use often with his sons Dakota and Carson.

    Culkin makes sure to use the word he rarely heard growing up: proud.

    Speaking on the December 16 episode of Mythical Kitchen podcast, Culkin explained that his father, Christopher “Kit” Culkin, never told him he was proud even at the height of his fame after the monumental success.

    Culkin pledged to give his children childhood different from what he had.

    He recalled comforting his four-year-old after stage fright at a recital: "As soon as the curtain opens, he freezes, he cries and he runs off stage. So, I go and scoop him up and the first thing out of my mouth is, 'Man, I’m so proud of you. You were so brave to go out there like that.'"

    Scottie was born on December 12, and her name is a tribute to a special family member she never had the chance to meet.

    Davidson's father Scott Matthew Davidson was a firefighter who died during the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001 when he was 33.

    The actor-comedian, 32, welcomed his "perfect angel girl" with model girlfriend Elsie Hewitt, 29, the pair confirmed on Instagram Thursday, Dec. 18. "my best work yet, i am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief," Hewitt wrote while Davidson quipped "wu tang forever."

    After a lengthy back-and-forth, the pair ultimately settled on the name Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson for their firstborn. The "Saturday Night Live" alum recently revealed that the pair were waiting to meet their child before agreeing on a name.

    "We thought we did, and then we thought we found another one," he told USA TODAY earlier this month about changing their minds on a name. "We just wanna meet it, and then we're like, you know, this is a (blank)."
