C-M softball rallies past Lynnville-Sully in extras
COLFAX — The Colfax-Mingo softball team rallied from an early hole, lost a five-run lead and scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to edge Lynnville-Sully on May 29.
The Tigerhawks trailed 2-0 after one, led 8-3 after four and answered Lynnville- Sully’s three-run top of the eighth with four in the bottom half during the South Iowa Cedar League contest.
“I don’t think this group has done something like that very much in recent years,” Colfax-Mingo head softball coach Bryan Poulter said. “They haven’t been down, take a lead, give it back and then come back on it. They mostly got down, took a lead and then gave it back. From that standpoint, it’s a real growing, developing situation that they can build on.”

Kinley Johannes totaled a career-best four hits, Brianna Freerksen had three hits and two doubles and Sydney Veasman’s only hit of the game led to a 12-11 walk-off victory.
Colfax-Mingo (2-1, 1-1 in the SICL) claimed its first win over Lynnville-Sully since May 22, 2023.
