    Robertson close to Spurs move after Liverpool exit

    Tottenham would be Robertson's third club in England after spells at Hull City and Liverpool

    Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal with Scotland full-back Andy Robertson following his departure from Liverpool.

    The 32-year-old played his final match for Liverpool against Brentford on Sunday, having announced he would leave the club when his contract ends this summer.

    Details remain to be finalised on the deal with Spurs but an agreement is in place in principle.

    Tottenham, then managed by Thomas Frank, targeted Robertson during the January transfer window.

    A deal was agreed between the two clubs, only for Liverpool to pull out when they were unable to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma.

    Tottenham have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign left-back Andy Robertson when his Liverpool contract expires ahead of next season. The Scotland captain departs Anfield after nine highly successful years, choosing to remain in the Premier League with Spurs after Roberto De Zerbi saved them from relegation to the Championship.

    According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have won the race for Robertson's signature. Spurs had previously attempted to secure the left-back in January, but the deal collapsed when Liverpool failed to recruit an immediate replacement. Now, following the conclusion of the season and his emotional farewell during a 1-1 draw with Brentford on Sunday, the 32-year-old is set to join De Zerbi's squad in north London.

    Romano: Andy Robertson reaches full agreement with Spurs

    Well, this one has been in the works for a while and according to Fabrizio Romano, it’s a done deal — Andrew Robertson will be signing with Tottenham Hotspur momentarily after reaching full agreement on personal terms with the club. Robertson, a Scotland international fullback, is leaving Liverpool upon the expiration of his contract and will sign with Spurs on a free transfer.

    Robertson is a good player and will probably be competing with Destiny Udogie next season at left back, but the real thing he brings to Spurs, according to all the previous reports, are things like experience and leadership and capability. All good things, to be fair! Robertson has lost a step from his peak years at Liverpool and that’s a little scary, but the one thing he does know how to do is pick out a good pass, and that’s something Spurs really really really need.

    (AP) — Keldon Johnson was the ultimate backup for the San Antonio Spurs this season.

    He played in all 82 games, all off the bench, becoming only the second NBA player in the last decade to do that. He became the first Spurs player to score 1,000 points as a reserve in a season. And all year long, San Antonio touted him as the best backup in the league.

    Voters seemed to agree — and the Spurs have another award winner.

    Keldon Johnson has won the 2025-26 Sixth Man of the Year award, the NBA announced Wednesday. Johnson is the second major award winner for the Spurs this season, joining Victor Wembanyama, who won Defensive Player of the Year unanimously on Monday. Though Wembanyama's victory has seemingly been destined since before he reached the NBA, Johnson's path to the Sixth Man of the Year award took several unexpected turns.

    Johnson was the No. 29 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and quickly emerged as a key player for San Antonio. He was a full-time starter by his second season and won a gold medal playing for Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics after that. By his fourth season, he averaged 22 points per game, but did so for a Spurs team going nowhere.

    Spur overcome lackadaisical third quarter with a solid fourth and put the Warriors away with a low drama victory

    The San Antonio Spurs were without star center Victor Wembanyama for Thursday night's 136-131 loss to the Denver Nuggets because of right ankle soreness.

    The Spurs announced the decision about 45 minutes before tipoff against the visiting Nuggets and Nikola Jokic in a battle of two of the Western Conference's top teams.

    Wembanyama, who had been questionable on the NBA injury report ahead of the game, tested the ankle pregame before the Spurs opted to keep him out.

    "We'll be mindful of all of it," coach Mitch Johnson said pregame. "Fortunately, I think regardless, this is something we view as very short term. It's very much how he's feeling versus risk of bigger picture."

    Victor Wembanyama Injury: Optimism to play Saturday

    Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson said that he's optimistic that Wembanyama (ankle) will play against the Hornets on Saturday, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.

    Wembanyama was unable to play against the Nuggets on Thursday due to a right ankle injury. The third-year phenom can be considered a game-time decision for Saturday's contest, and if he can't play, he'll likely be available for Monday's game against the Clippers. If Wembanyama is ruled out, then Luke Kornet would likely remain in the Spurs' starting lineup.
