    Ex-MAFS star Ridge Barredo sticking to weightlifting despite ugly injury

    Ridge Barredo's description of the knee injury that ended his Commonwealth Games weightlifting campaign is enough to turn most of us off even watching the sport for good.

    "I heard it pop on the third attempt, I tried to give it my all and I heard it pop [out] and pop back in," he said of his failed third snatch attempt in the men's 110kg class.

    "Just to feel it was a little bit scary. Initial pain was an eight or nine out of 10."

    He may have been Married At First Sight – but Australian reality TV star Ridge Barredo's third date with the Commonwealth Games has ended in calamity as he hobbled away on crutches.

    Barredo, who became a celebrity when he got hitched on the hit Australian TV show three years ago, was cheered on at Glasgow's Armadillo Arena by his partner Jade Pywell and stepdaughter Victoria as he sought to win a medal after finishing eighth and fifth at the previous two Games.
