    Broncos star stood down after being stopped by police

    Brisbane Broncos player Josiah Karapani has been axed from the team to play Cronulla in round 18 for disciplinary reasons after police stopped the 24-year-old on Sunday morning.

    The club confirmed Monday that Karapani was stopped by Queensland Police on the Pacific Motorway after he was detected speeding at nearly 20km over the limit.

    He was breathalysed and registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.037 – above the provisional licence holder limit.

    “Following the roadside stop, Josiah was taken to Holland Park Police Station where a breath analysis was conducted, returning a reading of 0.037,” the club statement read.

    Brisbane’s season from hell has taken another turn with winger Josiah Karapani dropped after he was allegedly involved in another off-field incident.

    The Broncos confirmed in a statement on Monday that Karapani was allegedly caught travelling at 119km per hour in a 100km/h zone on the Pacific Motorway at MacGregor in Brisbane’s south on Sunday morning and then stopped by Queensland Police.

    Club Statement: Josiah Karapani

    The Brisbane Broncos confirm that Josiah Karapani was stopped by Queensland Police on the Pacific Motorway at MacGregor around 7am yesterday morning (Sunday 28 June).

    He was allegedly travelling at 119km/h in a 100km/h zone and received an infringement notice for the speeding offence along with further fines for ‘Failure to display P plates’, ‘Driving an unregistered vehicle’ and ‘Driving an uninsured vehicle’.

    Following the roadside stop, Josiah was taken to Holland Park Police Station where a breath analysis was conducted, returning a reading of 0.037.

    As a provisional licence holder (P Plater), Josiah is subject to a zero-blood alcohol concentration.
