BoM drops long-range forecast promising extreme summer

After one of the wettest winters on record, The Bureau of Meteorology has revealed its long-range summer forecast — and it’s extreme.

BOM released a statement, predicting key trends of the weather leading up to Christmas and into next year.

“The summer forecast currently shows that rainfall is likely to be below average for large parts of Western Australia. Above, below or near-average rainfall are all possible outcomes for the south,” the statement said.

A key takeaway was that summer temperatures are going to be hotter than normal.

“Summer days and nights are likely to be warmer than usual throughout most of Western Australia,” BOM said.
