Kendrick Lamar review – with Doechii revving up the crowd, this is an extraordinary show for the ages

AAMI Park, MelbourneRap’s ‘swamp princess’ had the audience in the palm of her hand before Lamar dazzled with pyrotechnics and Drake disses

Aside from the immediate delight that comes from seeing two of the biggest names in rap in one show, there is a pleasing asymmetry in Doechii and Kendrick Lamar performing together. Fame is still new enough for Doechii, rap’s “swamp princess” and most rapidly ascending star, that her rapid-fire lyrics mostly revel in the pleasures it offers and announce her ambitions for greatness. Lamar, on the other hand, has achieved new heights with tracks that detail his weariness and irritation with the trappings of fame – mainly all the pretenders and hangers-on who don’t treat rap seriously (yeah, Drake) and don’t deserve to cower in his shadow.

US rap superstar Kendrick Lamar gets back to nature on a rainforest hike with his entourage during Australian tour

Hip hop star Kendrick Lamar was spotted getting up close and personal with the Australian bush this week.

Following two huge sets at Melbourne's AAMI Park this week, the rapper, 38, was keen to get back to nature in the Victorian hinterland on Friday.

Kendrick was joined by a sizeable entourage as he prepared to take on the 1000 Steps Trail, aka the Kokoda Track memorial Walk, in the Dandenong Ranges National Park.

The Not Like Us hitmaker looked ready to take on the idyllic rainforest trail, in a long sleeved grey shirt and matching shorts.

He also wore a pair of blue Nike Zoom X sneakers and a pair of long white Nike socks pulled up to the knee.

Main Roads has suggested that motorists allow for extra travel time especially during afternoon peak as delays are expected If in the stadium precinct be aware of heavy foot traffic and frequently stopping vehicles.

AC/DC review: Legendary band prove they’ve still got it by rocking out Optus Stadium with classic hits

A lot has changed in AC/DC-land since the last time we saw them in Perth some 10 years and a handful of days ago.

Brian Johnson left the band halfway through their last world tour, was replaced by Axl Rose, then returned.

The classic-era rhythm section of Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd came back to record Power Up then left again — and while Stevie Young was on the Subi Oval stage a decade ago as a new replacement for the mighty Malcolm Young, he’s now permanently in that role after Malcolm’s passing in 2017.

The only original member still standing is Angus Young and the question going into Thursday night was: Can he still dazzle a crowd at age 70?

Lando Norris has match point heading into the penultimate weekend of the Formula 1 season, with the British driver having one hand on a maiden drivers' championship.

Norris enters this weekend's racing in Qatar with a 24-point advantage over his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, and reigning world champion Max Verstappen.

Despite being in pole position to win the title, Norris is not guaranteed the title and will still need to produce a solid drive to make his championship dream a reality.

Norris on the brink of F1 history; rules twist that could change the championship: Burning Qs

One McLaren driver can win the championship this weekend, but it isn’t Oscar Piastri.

Lando Norris stands on the brink of history. On Sunday he has the chance to become the 35th driver to win a Formula 1 world title.

It’s a remarkable turn of events for the Englishman, who looked down and out of the hunt just eight races ago, when a power unit problem put him 34 points behind his title-leading teammate.

BETTING GUIDE: Who are the favourites for the Qatar Grand Prix?

Check out the odds for who might come out on top in Qatar, from pole position to race victory.

As Formula 1 prepares to race under the lights for the penultimate round of the 2025 season, what do the odds say about who will prevail in Qatar? Read on to find out…

Odds are provided by F1’s Official Betting Data Supplier ALT Sports Data, are subject to change and are presented in decimal form: for every $1 wagered you would win the figure represented by the odds; so, if Verstappen is favourite at 1.50, you would win $1.50 for every dollar bet.

Max Verstappen has endured his toughest campaign since he won his maiden Drivers' Championship back in 2021. However, for a challenging year, his record looks alright. The Dutchman is fresh off his sixth triumph and has put himself very much into the title hunt with two weekends to go. He enters Qatar as the most in-form driver on the grid across the last 10 races, with an average of 2.70 and an 80% top-three return in that period. Adding to his prestige are four wins in his last seven outings.
