THE AFL'S night of nights is back for another year and it's set to be another entertaining count. Here's everything you need to know.

The 2026 Brownlow Medal count will be held on Monday, September 21 at Crown Melbourne.

The 2026 Brownlow Medal will be broadcast live and free in Australia on Channel Seven, 7mate and live streamed on 7plus from 7.30pm AEST (see full city-by-city details at the bottom of the page).

The night starts with the Red Carpet arrivals before the count gets underway at 8pm AEST.

Brownlow Medal: Luke Jackson lead Fremantle Dockers’ Brownlow contenders

In a count that everyone has written off as a Nick Daicos domination, Luke Jackson is shaping as Freo’s best Brownlow Medal hope, widely tipped to top the WA count.

Daicos has become the unbackable favourite for the Medal after a near-miss last season, with many predicting a record vote count.

But the Dockers are also set to be rewarded for their minor premiership season with plenty of votes.

Fremantle will enjoy the count from the comfort of Perth as they prepare to face Brisbane in the grand final on Saturday, and there will be plenty of competition for the club’s top vote-getter.

Wildcard Cat standing between ‘unbackable’ Brownlow favourite and history

This year’s Brownlow Medal is being written off as a foregone conclusion, with the consensus suggesting Collingwood star Nick Daicos will win and by double-digit votes.

The midfielder is an unbackable favourite with odds makers, while every online predictor has him running away with the award.

But the Brownlow Medal generally tends to find a way to surprise and catch people off guard and this year could certainly be no different.

The Collingwood champion put together a consistently excellent season, making the All-Australian team and winning both the AFL Players Association and Coaches Association player of the year awards.

SailGP: Practice racing canned, but big breeze for weekend's racing

The Practice Racing scheduled for Friday at ITM NZ SailGP, was cancelled after a forecast of lightning – which didn't eventuate.

In its place came a 15kt plus easterly (onshore) breeze, which was not sufficent to keep the clouds flying, and Auckland was clothed in a grey murk which reduced visibility to a few hundred metres, if that. Not the ideal conditions for 13 SailGP teams to be trying to limber up in the congested, landlocked venue.

However three teams were allowed to go through "commissioning", leaving at varying stages of the day – essentially doing their own thing.

The Kiwis to test their new port stern section setup, which was completed on Wednesday, following their collison with the Swiss after just 90seconds of racing in the first event of Season 6 in Fremantle. The Swiss were repaired overnight in Freo, sailed the next day, and so weren't entitled to commissioning time today.
