    Josh Thomson‑Parkin remembered as ‘truly good person’ after fatal woodchipper accident

    The South Australian arboriculture community is mourning the loss of Josh Thomson‑Parkin, who was killed in a workplace woodchipper accident on August 11.

    The 26‑year‑old has been remembered as a kind, hardworking young man whose infectious grin “could lift the mood of any room”.

    The South Australian Society of Arboriculture (SASA) says Josh was a beloved husband, son, brother and “valued member of our industry”, and has launched a fundraiser to support his grieving family.

    SASA described Josh as someone people naturally gravitated towards; honest, genuine and “always willing to help others”.

    “For those who never had the chance to meet him, know that he was a truly good person. He left a lasting impression on everyone around him,” the tribute reads, adding that his “beautiful” family now faces a loss “no family should ever have to endure”.

    A father who went looking for his son after he did not return home from work was met with an unimaginable scene at an Adelaide Hills worksite.

    South Australian worker Josh Thomson-Parkin, 26, was found dead at a worksite in the Adelaide Hills after he failed to return home, sparking a SafeWork SA investigation.

    The tragedy happened at Charleston on Tuesday, where Josh is understood to have been working with a commercial woodchipper.

    When he still had not come home by 4.30am on Wednesday, his wife Mekayla raised the alarm. The couple had married only months earlier, in April.

    Tennis world pays tribute after legend announces retirement following Wimbledon final

    Tennis fans and fellow commentators are paying tribute to John Lloyd after the commentary legend announced his retirement at Wimbledon. The 71-year-old has been a mainstay on the BBC's coverage of Wimbledon for over two decades, but announced after the men's doubles final that he won't be back next year.

    The BBC is undergoing a changing of the guard, with Lloyd, Andrew Castle and Jo Durie all moving on. Sue Barker called her last Wimbledon for the BBC in 2022 before parting ways.

    Aussie commentator Todd Woodbridge dropped the news of Lloyd's retirement after the final point in the doubles final. "Before we get to the presentation, worth just saying something about you, Lloydy," Woodbridge said. "It might be the last chance that I get to sit in the comms' box with you, it's been an absolute pleasure."

    A third BBC commentator has announced they will step down from their role at the end of Wimbledon.

    Veteran BBC tennis commentator John Lloyd has announced he is commentating on his last Wimbledon – midway through Saturday's men's doubles final.

    The 71-year-old, who reached the Australian Open final as a player in 1977, has commentated for the BBC since the 1990s.

    The former British number one was calling the Wimbledon men's doubles final, which was won by British star Henry Patten and his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara, when he declared he would be calling time on his broadcasting career at the end of the event.

    BBC commentator explains decision to quit Wimbledon after bombshell dropped on air

    BBC Wimbledon commentator and former British No.1 tennis player John Lloyd has explained his decision to step back from his role, after it was announced live on air that this would be his last tournament.

    The 71-year-old has been part of the coverage for almost 30 years, and said his goodbyes after commentating on the men’s doubles finals in which Finnish-British pair Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten came out victorious. It was just after the final point was won, when the announcement was made by fellow commentator Todd Woodbridge.

    Great Richmond man, and two-time premiership player Kamdyn McIntosh, speaks on Jayden Short's 200th game.

    Jayden Short is set to join his premiership teammate, Kamdyn McIntosh, in the elite 200 AFL games club, once he takes to the field on Friday night against Essendon.

    McIntosh reflected on Short’s milestone achievement and how it was an honour to play alongside him at Richmond for all those years.

    “It was obviously a privilege to play alongside Shorty,” McIntosh said.

    “He is a very close mate of mine now, and he's just been such a good player for the footy Club, since he walked into the Club.

    jayden short is set to reach his 200th AFL game on Friday night against Essendon, and Kamdyn McIntosh says the Richmond defender has grown into one of the club’s most important voices. McIntosh said Short’s energy, care and leadership have made him a central figure inside the Swinburne Centre.

    “It was obviously a privilege to play alongside Shorty,” McIntosh said in reflection on the milestone. “He is a very close mate of mine now, and he’s just been such a good player for the footy Club, since he walked into the Club.”

    McIntosh said he still remembers Short’s first day at Richmond. “I’m a couple of years older than him, so I remember the first day he ever came to the Club, and he was just like an energiser bunny. All the boys just fed off his energy, and they loved it.” He added: “Then to go out there on game day, he just brings the same energy on the field.”

    Sims amongst 4 AFL inclusions for VFL Dreamtime

    Tom Sims and a plethora of other AFL players return for the VFL Dreamtime clash.

    Richmond forward Tom Sims will make his highly-anticipated return to football this weekend, pulling on the boots for Richmond VFL's Dreamtime clash against Essendon on Saturday morning.

    It will be the 20-year-old's first game at any level in 286 days, since August 9, 2025, when Sims dislocated his elbow in a VFL match, and then was subsequently sidelined due to a foot injury throughout the pre-season.

    Sims enjoyed a strong debut campaign last season, playing 11 AFL games and showcasing his strong potential around the ground.

    Sims will be joined by AFL teammates Kaleb Smith, Samson Ryan and Liam Fawcett, who all return to the side for the Round 9 clash.
