    MICHAEL Voss has revealed his most recent dinner with Carlton CEO Graham Wright and president Rob Priestley was the moment he knew he was on "shaky ground" as Blues coach and that "the inevitable was about to become clearer”.

    In an exclusive interview with AFL.com.au on the day he departed the Blues, Voss has also revealed a coffee with manager and long-time friend Peter Blucher last Friday morning finally set the wheels in motion for his exit.

    Former Carlton AFL coach Michael Voss says the club is in a better position now than when he took over.

    Voss resigned as coach on Tuesday with the Blues on an eight-match losing streak.

    Michael Voss has struck a defiant tone after leaving Carlton, insistent the AFL club is in better shape than when he started as coach.

    While Voss said there was no animosity with the Blues and he was at peace with the decision to resign in his fifth season, he admitted to great frustration that the wins did not come.

    Austin departs IKON Park

    Head of List Management Nick Austin has departed the Carlton Football Club.

    The Carlton Football Club can confirm that Head of List Management Nick Austin has departed the football club today.

    Austin held discussions with the Club late this afternoon, during which time he made the decision to move on from his position in order to allow the Club to continue through its current period of transition.

    Austin leaves IKON Park after more than five years in the role, having arrived on the eve of the 2020 AFL season.

    “Our club thanks Nick for his commitment and dedication to the football club over the last five years,” Carlton General Manager of Football Chris Davies said.

    Carlton coach Michael Voss says Sam Docherty’s expletive-laden spray at his former club was another example of the Blues’ culture of turning on each other, but tacitly conceded the former captain had raised a valid point.

    The Blues have taken a public stand against Docherty, removing the former captain from a club function he was to appear at before Thursday night’s clash against Richmond at the MCG, and not having him appear at all until the round six clash against Collingwood where the two clubs battle for the Peter Mac Cup.     Michael Voss says Sam Docherty's expletive-laden criticism shows the club is still "culturally defeating" itself

    CARLTON coach Michael Voss has declared the leaking of former captain Sam Docherty's expletive-laden criticism an example of the club continuing to "culturally defeat" itself after a poor start to the season.

    Voss famously used the phrase in his address at last year's best-and-fairest ceremony, following a nine-win campaign that left the Blues out of finals action and the coach under increasing pressure.

    The blowtorch has already been turned up for 2026, with a horror third quarter in a 63-point thumping from Sydney in Opening Round putting Carlton immediately under the gun.
