‘Welcome to TrellaVision’: Latrell Mitchell finally breaks his media silence

Latrell Mitchell has spoken to the media for the first time in over a year, declaring his love for South Sydney, the NSW Blues, and why he wanted to support good mate Campbell Graham ahead of his 150th NRL game.

The Rabbitohs superstar has been in devastating form over the past month, including a barnstorming try against Newcastle on the weekend, and spoke to coach Wayne Bennett last week about ending the media ban that has been in place for more than a year.

Graham and skipper Cameron Murray were listed for media duties on Tuesday, only for Mitchell to make a surprise appearance in front of the cameras at Souths training.

‘Too honest for his own good’: Latrell praised for ‘breaking ice’ after ‘ridiculous’ comments

Latrell Mitchell has been praised for breaking his self imposed media ban and giving the fans more of an insight to one of the best and most exciting players in the game.

Mitchell is arguably in the form of his career at the moment, as the Rabbitohs have surged into the top four this season and after 18 months not speaking to the media, he finally broke his silence.

NRL 2026: Act from Wayne Bennett comes to light after Latrell Mitchell backflips on 18-month ban

Latrell Mitchell delighted the NRL world after ending his self-imposed media ban by speaking to reporters for the first time in 18 months on Tuesday. And it's understood a discussion with Wayne Bennett was behind the major backflip, after the veteran coach convinced Mitchell that now was the perfect time to present himself to the press again.

Mitchell has been the standout centre over the first nine rounds of the competition, and is in close to career-best form for the high-flying Rabbitohs. The 28-year-old leads the NRL in points, linebreak assists and has scored 11 tries in eight games, and he's considered a certain starter for Laurie Daley's Blues in this year's Origin series.
