How and Where to Watch Jordan vs Iraq in the FIFA Arab Cup on beIN SPORTS

Jordan head into the quarter-finals with a perfect record of three wins, comfortably securing the top spot in Group C. Their strong campaign opened with a 2-1 victory over the UAE, followed by convincing wins against Kuwait (3-1) and Egypt (3-0)—extending the incredible momentum they’ve built since reaching the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 final.

Their resurgence didn’t stop there. Jordan later celebrated a historic milestone by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the first time, and they are expected to perform at their absolute best in the knockout stage.

On the other side, Iraq enter the matchup hungry to rebound after finishing second in Group D. They booked their quarter-final berth with solid wins against Bahrain (2-1) and Sudan (2-0), though they stumbled in their final group game with a 2-0 loss to defending champions Algeria.

Arnold: Iraq ready for Jordan clash in Arab Cup quarterfinal

NEWSROOM — Iraq national soccer team coach Graham Arnold said the squad is fully prepared, both mentally and physically, for Friday’s Arab Cup quarterfinal against Jordan, emphasizing confidence in his players.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Doha, Arnold said, “The players are mentally and physically ready to give their best in tomorrow’s match. We are going into the game with full readiness and will give everything to secure victory.”

Arnold noted the absence of Hussein Ali due to a red card and acknowledged other injuries but said such challenges are part of football. He added that the tournament has been an important opportunity to identify the best lineup.

Arab Cup 2025 / Jordan – Iraq: history of their encounters

Iraq holds a clear historical edge over Jordan, boasting 21 wins in 34 official and friendly meetings, compared to just 8 Jordanian victories and 5 draws. This dominance has spanned several decades, confirmed time and again across numerous regional and international competitions.

In recent years, however, the dynamic has occasionally shifted. Jordan notably caused an upset at the 2024 Asian Cup, clinching a dramatic 3-2 win in the round of 16 (January 29, 2024), before Iraq reclaimed the upper hand in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a 1-0 victory on June 10, 2025. In between, several tightly contested clashes—including a 2-2 draw in a friendly (October 2023)—have underscored the growing parity between the two sides.

They’re bright, they’re plentiful and the Geminids – which make up what’s regarded as one of the best annual meteor showers to witness – are about to reach their peak viewing time.

The Geminid meteors have already been active in our skies since 4 December, building up to the best night of the year to see them on Sunday.

Here’s what you need to know about the meteor shower and where you can best see it.

Spectacular meteor shower to light up Perth skies on weekend

Perth’s night sky is set to light up in a “natural fireworks show” this weekend, as the Geminids meteor shower is scheduled to spark up the dark.

The Geminids, which are active every year in early and mid-December, are characterised by their colourful and radiant showers and will be visible nation-wide this weekend.

Perth Observatory tour administrator Matt Woods says there are plenty of places around the metropolitan area where viewers can see the meteors, but will be more visible the further out from the city.

“Places like the South Ledge Lookout at Mundaring Weir, Point Peron, Rottnest Island, and Lake Leschenaultia are close to the city, and you should see a decent number of meteors,” Mr Woods said.

“Can we go again?” asks Jay Kelly (George Clooney), a movie star shooting a scene in which the tough guy he’s playing dies of a gunshot wound on the soundstage reproduction of a rain-slicked alleyway. “I think I can do it better.” These lines from the opening scene of Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly will become the film’s wistful recurring theme. As an A-list celebrity some four decades into a phenomenally successful career, Jay has arrived at an age when many people look back on what they might have done differently in their lives. But “many people” don’t have a private jet and a full staff of housekeepers, chefs, stylists, and personal assistants at their command. Taking stock of your past mistakes is tough when everyone around you is busy protecting you from the consequences of mistakes you’re still making in the present.

Australian suburbs where house prices are falling despite rate cuts

Recent home price rises have not been universal and there were price drops in some areas.

Property prices have fallen by as much as $50,000 in select pockets of Australia, defying the wider interest-rate-cut-fuelled surge that pushed much of the housing market sharply higher throughout 2025.

While most capitals have generally roared back to life on cheaper credit and renewed buyer confidence, fresh data shows some areas slipped backwards even as surrounding markets broke records.

The areas included pockets of Melbourne and Sydney, along with parts of regional NSW, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.

The decline was sharpest for houses in Melbourne’s inner east, where house prices tumbled an average $50,000 over the year to October, according to the PropTrack Market Trends report.

Buying boom: 60 suburbs where property sales have surged

Rising property markets have triggered a selling spree in some unexpected suburbs, with buyers snapping up homes as homeowners take advantage of increasing prices.

New PropTrack data shows that in some suburbs, up to three times as many properties were sold in the past year compared to the prior 12 month period.

The biggest increases in property sales were recorded in property markets staging a major turnaround, especially Darwin.

The Northern Territory capital has experienced an influx of investor interest this year as buyers search for the next market to boom.

Investor lending in the NT surged to a record high this year, driven by a wave of interstate buyers seeking high-yielding properties in areas where price growth is likely to outperform.

Darwin home prices have skyrocketed more than $75,000 in the past year, with the average cost of property hitting a new peak in November.

The latest PropTrack Home Price Index revealed the median dwelling price in Darwin increased 0.3 per cent last month to a new high of $573,000.

REA Group senior economist and report author, Eleanor Creagh said the annual surge made Darwin the second strongest performing market in the country.

“There’s been a very clear acceleration in the pace of growth in Darwin and a very clear turnaround in market conditions,” she said.

Pakistan news: Former PM Imran Khan killed? Death rumours flood social media; sisters assaulted outside Adiala Jail

Amid Imran Khan’s death rumours flooding social media, his three sisters allegedly suffered a brutal police assault outside Adiala Jail. The ageing sisters of Pakistan’s former prime minister have demanded an impartial probe.

Noreen Niazi, Aleema Khan and Dr Uzma Khan were waiting outside the jail as they had been denied a meeting with Khan for a month. They said they were sitting peacefully when police suddenly attacked them without warning.

They have called the attack “brutal and orchestrated” and was carried out “without provocation”. They have made a formal complaint to Punjab police chief Usman Anwar.

“At the age of 71, I was seized by my hair, thrown violently to the ground, and dragged across the road, sustaining visible injuries,” PTI quoted Noreen Niazi as saying.

Imran Khan's sisters demand probe after police assault outside Adiala jail: ‘Seized by hair, dragged’ | World News

Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan's three sisters have demanded an impartial probe into the "brutal" police assault on them and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters outside Adiala Jail last week.

Imran Khan, who is also the chief of PTI, has been in jail since August 2023 in multiple cases.

Khan's sisters – Noreen Niazi, Aleema Khan and Dr Uzma Khan – submitted a formal complaint to Punjab Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar against the “brutal assault” of PTI supporters outside the Rawalpindi jail last week, The Dawn reported.

Last week, the three sisters had camped outside Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is currently imprisoned, along with party supporters, after they were denied a meeting with him for a month.

Where to stay in Prague – a guide to the best areas and neighbourhoods

With its “1000 spires” and unique blend of fairytale Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture — mixed in with a sprinkle of contrasting Communist landmarks — Prague remains one of Europe’s best-looking and most captivating capitals. At the city’s heart lie the historic districts of Stare Mesto (Old Town) and Mala Strana (Lesser Town), which are linked by the iconic Charles Bridge and home to big-hitter sights such as Prague Castle and Old Town Square.

These districts, along with Nove Mesto (New Town) — a more bustling district, home to Wenceslas Square and the National Museum — are great bases for some of the other neighbourhoods that lie just beyond the centre These include Vinohrady and Zizkov, which offer leafy streets, a vibrant cafe and bar culture, and a more local feel. Other districts such as Karlin, Holesovice, and Smichov have also undergone something of a renaissance, and are equally abuzz with chic restaurants, edgy galleries and dapper wine bars.

Wizz A321XLR's descent rate increased just before hard landing and tail-strike

Czech investigators have disclosed that a Wizz Air UK Airbus A321XLR’s descent rate increased by 60% in the last few seconds before a hard touchdown and tail-strike at Prague.

It had been conducting an ILS approach to runway 24 following a service from London Gatwick on 11 September.

Weather conditions at the time were “normal”, says Czech investigation authority UZPLN, with good visibility – although the 10kt wind was variable, from 150-220°.

It states that the first officer, with 450h on A320-family aircraft, was the flying pilot, for the third time, while the flight was the captain’s first in command on the A321 model.
