    Transformers sequel taps Jason Fuchs fresh off an HBO Max series

    Paramount and Hasbro have handed the next Transformers script to Jason Fuchs, a screenwriter with a knack for big-canvas spectacle and recent TV heat. His assignment picks up after 2023’s Rise of the Beasts, even as the wider franchise readies a clutch of new projects, including a G.I. Joe crossover penned by Jurassic World’s Derek Connolly.     New Transformers Movie Officially Confirmed

    Three years after their last live-action adventure, the Transformers are headed back to the big screen. Fresh from their merger with Skydance, and probably on the verge of another with Warner Bros, the studio is pulling one of their most successful franchises out of statis lock. While details about the new film are still being kept under wraps, we now know who'll be writing it.

    According to reports, Jason Fuchs will pen the script for the latest clash between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Fuchs has written the scripts for films like Ice Age: Continental Drift, Pan, and Argylle: he's also one of the creators and showrunners of the HBO horror hit It: Welcome to Derry. The film is said to be the next entry in the live-action franchise; while Michael Bay is said to be producing, there's no word if he plans to return to the director's chair for what would be his sixth Transformers movie. There's also no indication if this is the mooted G.I. Joe-Transformers crossover movie that was teased at the end of 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts; Chris Hemsworth was reported to be starring in that film in 2024, but no further news about it has emerged.

    Steven Spielberg Officially Returns to the Sci-Fi Genre on June 12

    He has covered everything from Marvel to the Oscars, and Marvel at the Oscars. He also writes obsessively about the box office, charting the many hits and misses that are released weekly, and how their commercial performance shapes public perception. In his time at Collider, he has also helped drive diversity by writing stories about the multiple Indian film industries, with a goal of introducing audiences to a whole new world of cinema. 

    You'd think that the first Star Wars movie in seven years is the riskiest sci-fi bet of the year, but you'd be ignoring another, even more risky offering that is slated for release only a few weeks after the Star Wars title. Directed by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian and Grogu also serves as the first theatrical release to be inspired by a streaming title, Favreau's own The Mandalorian, which premiered on Disney+ in 2019. That was the same year the franchise delivered its most recent theatrical film, Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker. The final installment of the Skywalker Saga divided critics and audiences and underperformed at the box-office even though it grossed more than $1 billion worldwide. Since then, the franchise has undergone massive strategic changes, including a managerial shake-up. The Rise of Skywalker was directed by J.J. Abrams, who, interestingly, has his own risky sci-fi movie slated for release this year.
