A huge blaze has engulfed a building at Glasgow Central Station causing it to partially collapse.

The fire started in a vape shop on Union Street on Sunday afternoon, with the B-listed Forsyth building collapsing several hours later as flames spread.

Dozens of train services have since been cancelled and National Rail said the station – which is Scotland's busiest – will be closed until further notice. No casualties have been reported.

Large crowds gathered at the edge of cordons on Renfield Street and Gordon Street to watch the fire, as emergency services urged people to stay away.

A fire at a vape shop has forced the closure of Scotland's busiest railway station "until further notice".

Dozens of trains were cancelled on Sunday after a four-storey building in Union Street, close to Glasgow Central Station, caught fire.

The building has partially collapsed, and Network Rail has said that the station will not reopen on Monday morning as firefighters continue to tackle the blaze – more than five hours after it began.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "Glasgow Central Station has been closed until further notice, and will not reopen on Monday morning, following a fire at a vape shop on Union Street this afternoon.

Glasgow Central Station closed as fire crews race to 'explosion' in city centre

GLASGOW Central Station has been closed as firefighters battle a major blaze following reports of an explosion at a nearby shop and a building collapsing.

Crews were called to Union Street at around 3.46pm this afternoon after the alarm was raised.

Large plumes of grey smoke were seen billowing from premises close to the busy rail hub.

Witnesses told the Scottish Sun they heard a loud bang and claimed the premises had “exploded”.

A source said: “There was a huge bang and then smoke started pouring out of the shop. It’s not clear if anyone has been hurt.
